I liked the Blue Water Grill has great shrimp.Coconut's has great conch cheviche. George's Kitchen as well as Lily's had great brakfast/lunch. Pedro's also had great lunch special's. Ali Baba's whole chicken can't be beat. Everyone talks about Casa Picassco for dinner. Not me. Drinks are good though.BC's can't be beat with there Sunday Bar-B-Que, espescially the fish.

Buy your beach type souvineers (Shell jewelry, etc) & some local art on the island but everything else in Cayo - much cheaper and usually you can buy directly from the crafts person or at local markets. Good slate & wood carvings, masks, art, "Rub a Dub" locally made soaps. Hot sauce, salsas, jams & preserves all cheaper on the mainland.

Oddly enough, one of the things I enjoyed most was the colslaw on AC! The stuff in the U.S. (for the most part) isn't worth a chew. But it's very tasty in San Pedro.

Ali Baba's has excellent chicken, and you can get traditional Mediterranean on the side OR Belizean cocaonut rice/beans, slaw on the side. Try it once each way : ) Their falafels are great, too.

We enjoyed the jewelry makers in the central market also. Pretty shell earrings and my daughter got a necklace made from a beautiful color of conch. There are some nice wood carvings, I saw some carved loggerhead turtles and now I wished I gotten one. Oh well, good excuse to go back!

snorkelgirl, can you tell me more about Ali Baba's? It doesn't appear in any of the restaurant guides I've seen and I've been to the Island twice but don't recall see this - unless this is the place where they roast the chickens in a rotisserie out on the street.

Ali Babas is on the left as you go out of town towards south, just past the airport, and where you make the left to go to BC's. The restaraunt is on the corner, has the box of rotisserie chickens outside against the wall. Wonderful chicken...
