Ah, Banyon Bay - nice! Keli stayed there with her Mom once. I got to see many pictures of their place - nice!!! Also, a bit closer to town than the other places you mention (however, those are very nice places to stay!!!)

Hard descision!

Thanks to everyone who responded. It's very hard to choose a place when there are so may great selections. It's our first time to Ambergris Caye but probably won't be our last! smile

The only thing left is to find a good fishing guide(s) for a couple of days.

Flav1, O'Farrell House is no longer on the rental market but would have been great. If you haven't checked out Xanadu yet, look it up, it is also a great place but a little closer to town.

Sorry captjeff, but where are your fishing reports posted? How is the offshore fishing in this area?

I love all kinds of fishing but hoping to do some bonefishing since that's what the other fellows are really in to. Do you need to lug down your own gear or does fishingsanpedro provide gear (Fly Gear especially)?

FLAV1: I don't know the Capt's guides but would be very surprised if they had fly gear available. If they do, find out exactly what it is that they have. That's not a knock on them. Rather, fly stuff is just not available at anything approaching a reasonable price in Belize. Tell your guys to bring anything and everything.

We have been fishing in a number of locations in the Caribbean where gear is provided. On the island of Andros Bahamas they provide fly gear as part of the package. Actually rather good quality, not to purchase strictly to use. Carting all that stuff down is such a pain and sometimes gets lost, that's why I ask the question.

Thanks for your input! cool

Flav1: Agreed on Andros and Fla. and the Yucatan and Baja, and lots of other developed fly fishing destinations. Other than Pescador, there isn't a developed fly fishery in SP. I've taken a minimum of 4 rods and 5 reels on a dozen trips to SP w/o a problem. The last few years I've carried them all on the plane(s). Just think your guys should talk with the guide they choose before coming, and see if they're satisfied with the gear avail. On my first trip to SP I didn't take any tarpon gear, just bonefish equipment. I fished with a well-known guide operating on Middle Street. While he had a medium quality outfit(Redington rod/reel) when he pulled it out from under the casting deck it was so caked with salt it "snowed" when he stripped the line-off.
