Silly remarks like "they've (Chinese) already taken over Panama" do not add any substance to the debate over the dam scam.
Why not stick to the real arguments (like the environmental destruction and the sweetheart contract that will bankrupt Belize while putting bucks in the hands of a handful of pols.)
Those are real issues, no need to engage in paranoid conspiracy theories.
Fortis and the telecom fiascos are the inevitable result of the failure of the people of Belize to demand a democratic, accountable, government. Eventually they will do so and things will change. Unfortunately, the misery index will probably have to rise considerably before that happens.
I suspect that probably the only way to stop the Fortis project is to convince Fortis that Belize will default on its payments. The people who run that corporation don't care what they do to the environment but they do care about their bottom line. If they come to believe that a future government is likely to repudiate the contract and refuse to pay them, they may back out.
