Are grocery stores in Belize City open the day after Christmas? We are flying in that day, then driving to Placencia. We usually stock up on staples in Belize City before heading south and wonder if that will be possible on December 26th.

If you're talking about the big stores like Brodie's, I wouldn't count on them being open. Christmas is on Thursday this year and I'd bet the rent that there will be a major evacuation beginning on Wednesday through the weekend and even after at all businesses. The stores down south get picked bare in anticipation that they won't be open fulltime and restocked until after New Year's Day.

But I could be wrong.

Betty, couldn't you contact somebody to stock up for you? What a great place to spend the holidays.

You might be lucky to find Save-U supermarket open near the round about in Belize City coming from the airport.

On holidays they open from 8:00am to 2:00pm.
