When I lived in Illinois that was a stable at most resturants. Good eats.

I thought fried okra came from Tenneese. The only reason to chicken fry a steak is if it is a very bad cut of meat. confused

When I first moved to Texas from Philly I went out to eat and the waitress recommended chicken fried steak... I laughed, having never heard of it, and said no honey I hate chicken.

Last time I made that mistake eek

I come from a long line of okies - frying is the ONLY way to cook okra - yummmmm! (my apologies to the arteries!)

This winter I purchased my in-laws winter home down in south Texas, with an eye to retiring in the next 5 years. Reading up on Texas law, it seems I would not have to buy it, I could have just shot my father-in-law and I would get his house and his woman. Needless to say, didn't particularly want his woman (my mother-in-law)more than the cash involved. the lawyer who handled the transaction (Spanish surname, boots, hat) informed me that this DID NOT make me a Texan. I thanked him for that as it had worried me. Everything I need to know about Texans I learned from King of the Hill. Just kidding, looking forward to the food diversity.

Been there, done that, the washing machine ate the T-shirt

Law, okra & cfs is gooooooooooood!

atomicindy, not sure where it originated but I'm sure it was not from we "arrogant" Texans.

this whole thread is completely foreign to me. are we actually speaking of cuisine? (remember, boyfriend is ex top chef). not to sound better, just different, we have amazing food up here with french, thai, mediterranean, indian, latin american etc etc restaurants everywhere.

i thinnk the only place i can get cfs is the old country buffet, where even my kids refuse to eat.

fresh sushi for lunch today wink

good day, all.
