NYC, My dog has flown with me on US Air/ Charlotte to Belize on at least 20 occasions, the last time being April 2005. I always found them very accomodating, and didn't even mind when I would take her out of her carry bag (she would just sit in my lap) during my Charlotte lay-overs. I'm not sure why they would have a toy poodle ride cargo, but I assure you that my baby NEVER rode cargo!

Your pet can not fly to the Cayes, unless you purchase 3 seats for the pet. The dog has to go in the 3 seats in a row in the back. I took mine on the water ferry, they did not charge me for the dog as she counted as 'luggage.' It was not hard on the ferry for her.

It depends on the size of the carrier and if you fly space available (the flight has empty seats) you only have to purchase 1 seat. We fly dogs over to Belize City and Corozal all the time for veterinary care without having to purchase 3 seats.

I'd certainly avoid Miami if at all possible, for a number of reasons. Houston would be better, and I agree that Charlotte gives easily the best experience.
I doubt you'll have any problem bringing the dog over on Tropic, unless you target a flight that's nearly full.

when I brought my dog over in one of the slowest months Tropic was not full, they absolutely charge 3 seats for dogs. They told me that ahead of time as their policy and when I arrived and tried again. the flights were not full.

Not sure why you had a problem. We've been doing this for years, I just talked to Kathy who flies many dogs and she is in agreement that if you don't want a specific flight and will wait on their schedule you can get a break on price. Also if your carrier only takes up one seat you only get charged for one seat. Your carrier would have taken 3 seats.

wow, great to know, thank you! I appreciate this for when we want to fly back. I will look into it. Though the water taxi was fun for her, she loves the boats Thanks again for the info, if I want to fly then I will try again.

Simon, as always you have great info. Thanks. Yes, I am sure since she is 60 lbs that is why I would have needed 3 seats, she has a medium-lg kennel.

Casa Caracol, this is off the subject but I have been wanting to tell you for months that evertime I pass your Casa on the way to the gym I just really admire it. First, I LOVE the name. So cool, the conch house! I really like the house and where it is located.
Just wanted to let you know.
