1) Because it was beside the body.
2) Because he was put in the taxi and sent home and ended up on the other side of the island, the investigation continues.
3) The canal may not have any hiding holes. A barrel roll by a decent size Croc would remove arms (or head) from a recently deceased body. Decomposition would be required to tear off other parts of the body. You generally don't scream if unconscious.

3) No, generally wouldn't be any screaming if unconscious. However, I'd have thought that having an arm bitten off by a croc would revive one enough for a scream.
2) interesting, have they found the cab driver?
1) wow

They should stop worrying about the crocodile so much and figure out why Wilber was in the lagoon in the first place. Just my opinion. Exactly !!! It is human nature to want to kill any animal that killed a human. They should realize that the croc was only doing what its instincts progammed it to do and time should be spent figuring out how to keep people away from the places where crocs live. Why not spend that "hunting time" putting up signs in bars that read: AFTER YOU LEAVE THIS BAR DO NOT GO NEAR THE LAGOON. EL-777

Gonna get shot down but...
1. This looks a pretty 'h'armless story, are the newsies 'shouldering' the blame for scaring tourists on a slow news week?
2. Crocs are usually agressive if you don't give them 'elbow' room!
3. As a side note...4 fingers is a decent size shooter to go in one gulp!!
5. Is there a sign at the lagoon saying " No feeding by hand!"
Humor is the best way to deal with real life.

I think it gives evidence of very bad taste to make jokes about this subject and even to speculate about the events that lead to Wilbur's dead before the police investigation is finished. You should be ashamed!
The intention of this post is to make tourists aware that they shouldn't encourage locals to feed crocodiles and if offered to attend a "show" to politely decline. It is illegal! //ambergriscaye.com/forum/ubbthreads.php/ubb/showflat/Number/127940/
I hope they will be able remove the problem crocs and those that have become dependent on the feeding shows.

I don't know Wilbur and I don't know crocs... but I do know the area where Wilbur was found (b/c he was found practically in my back yard). Wilbur did not accidentally stumble there. Period. It is a dead end area, not a place to wander. I don't think anybody would disagree.
There are no KILLER CROCS. Crocs should not be hunted and put down. These are crocs living as they should, as they for millions of years before our arrival.

Sad as it is a lot of time people use poor judgement whether alchol related or not. From the Smoky Mountains National Park where I've seen people chasing Wild Bears because they were cute to here in Florida where they go for a swim where Alligators are near by.You have to be aware of your surroundings and realize these are wild creatures who would rather be left alone but when confronted they will attack.Bull gators or Crocs will attack when hungry or during mating season protect their area.Feeding them only makes them less afraid of humans and they will Bite The Hand That Feeds Them.

You guys should seriously stop talking about this. A great guy is dead and there is lots of speculation, lots of people that believe that this was not a crocodile attack. Making jokes about this is awful. Lots of people on this island get drunk regularly...doesn't mean he deserves to be dead.

For clarity, none of my posts were intended to be humorous in any way. I'm sad and horrified.

It seems rather obvious that my friend, Wilber, did not just stumble and pass out in the canal...he lived in the DFC area a far distance from the scene of the crime. I really wish a fresh, exhaustive investigation will be conducted...and not just blame Crocodiles for Wilbers murder. I walk along that same road day or night without any danger from Crocks...the same is not true of the drug dealers living in the area.
Gone fishing!!
