I read you need to prove that you have money enough for $60 a day of the length of your stay.

How does one go about proving this?

Never heard anyone asked to prove it. I have heard of it but never seen it put into practice.

It is impossible to live here on 60 dollars a day as a tourist

How much would you say you need Pedro?

dabunk, I was thinking that it is probably just some kind of technicality, still, I didn't want to be stopped at the airport. smirk

Most of those rules were before CC and debit cards. You will have your return ticket so not to worry, be happy and enjoy. I understand your feelings as I am a belt and suspenders kind of person myself. You can get by in the villages or PG for 60 a day, do not know about AC or CC though as Pedro said.

$60 a day doesn't even cover your bar bill.

Yeah, this is a good point. Thanks for pointing that out dabunk.

I guess the topic of this thread is switching more over to the cost of Ambergris Caye, what are some of the more expensive items, how much is a beer? or a pineapple?

Beer is relatively expensive all over Belize, cannot comment on AC. I quit along time ago when I was diagnosed with diabetes. Fruit prices change radiaclly with the season from 2.50 to .50, same with tomatoes, from 5.00 to 1.50

A bottle of Belikin is typically $4 to $5 bze, depending on the swankiness of the place you are imbibing at. Fresh fruit has been a bargain when we have been down in November.

you can do AC on the cheap but you have to work at it.

Eat lunch from vendors in central park
Order Belikin from Simon in bulk
snorkel on your own off the beach
find a sugardaddy like Ernie to show you around

wink

I will have a Belikin -- put it on klcman's tab.
