two people per boat and each boat has its own motor... maybe it's just me, but this sounds like an awful lot of unnecessary pollution not the mention the potential for damage to rocks and reef by inexperienced drivers who aren't so good at following. I'll admit I know absolutely nothing about this endeavor but on its face it doesn't sound good.

I can never remember which is better . . . safe? . . . or sorry?

I know nothing about it either, but would agree with LA. From several years of snorkeling, I know that there are lots and lots of coral heads between here and the reef, and I am completely surprised that the Tour Guide Association or whoever monitors the captain's licenses is going along with this.

For those who want to do it...have fun and be careful, I will, however, respectfully decline.

Interesting quote from the website .........

"The majority of Belize will not let you rent a boat with out a licensed captain that are familiar with the local waters around Ambergris Caye."

i have been keeping quiet on this, but agree with LA & shuffles. as soon as we read it, bruce & i were concerned.

besides their points (which were in line with his), i also noted to him that when we "saw" manatees in the river, we could not see them. just the snouts & bubbles when pointed out to us. if they hadn't pointed then out, and i was driving, i'd have run them over.

i just feel it is a tragedy ready to happen. respectfully, JMO, too.

If its not clear, right click on the avitar and "view image"
