The transportation department officers stopped me yesterday to say that all license plates on the caye will need to have the "SP" designation. Mine currently have the "BZ" designation. So, take your vehicle registration certificate and $15 to the traffic department office downstairs of the town council building and pick up your new plates - BEFORE FRIDAY!

We just found out yesterday too! They really need to find a better way to get the word out and give a little more notice. We were told we need to do it by Thursday or we could get a ticket.

Wonder when they planned on telling everybody - in the Thursday edition of the SP sun I guess?

My staff were stopped and told the same thing. You need to take your Certificate of Title and the old plates in with you.

I have a certificate of Tltle, but no plates as they are on the golf cart, by the way I have no golf cart what do I do?

Amanda, when did they start making plates with the "SP" designation?

My friend has an SP plate with the number 666 so it must have been in use for a while.

I don't know how long but I had seen an influx of new golf carts (probably rentals) that had the new, very low numbered plates.

Must be another one of the mandatory rules that haven't been widely published or publicized.

I don't know how people who are off island but have golf carts or other vehicles here will manage.
