Dear Members,
we have just received this information from BELPO regarding the mining license for Bonefish bay.


"GPD confirmed that the mining License has been granted to Topaz Magic Inc. However, I was not able to get information because the license is being processed. Ms.Alvarez promised to provide me with the relevant information as soon as the licensed is signed.


I arranged to call her office tomorrow to follow up. The mining licenses are issued for 2 years (approximate lifetime of project). How much mining is allowed? That's unlimited, depends on what is being recorded for the day and a royalty is charged every 1/4 year.

DOE verified that no study or investigation was carried out to assess the EIA. Mr. Hulse indicated that it was determined after they received the project documents and supporting letters. I got a copy of the ECP.

LUA will provide with copy of subdivision approval as well.
Forestry have yet to confirm if a mangrove cutting permit has been issued"

Is it just me or what?
Holistic Sustainable Development, Green Plan, untouched mangroves,nature,Green Architectural Design, Eco-Friendly,Green, self-sustaining, concerned individual environmentalist,Heart Foundation,dedicated to educating and increasing awareness about the environmental responsibility and sustainable development,state of the art...etc.etc.
This weeks San Pedro Sun indicates they don't have the dredging permit and from this amount of sucking up I'm sure they don't have it yet, but wow what rhetoric, makes me just all warm and fuzzy. Paint the dredge and bulldozers green that would help... about as much!

When I started looking into moving to belize (over a year ago) I saw something similar to this, some proposed new development where you could get a lot on the beach for 10-50k to build a nice place on. This at first looked like an awesome deal, until I kept researching and found about uhmmm TWENTY more exact replicas of these proposed developments that are waiting for investors to buy lots before they start building. I pretty much never saw one that was done lol. I guess they just have all these cool computer generated pictures of what it might look like one day to sell property at cheap-mid prices with no real intention of finishing the originally proposed project. Pretty sad really Im sure a lot of people go for it. And they end up with a piece of land that is probably under water half the year ;\
