I agree..its a catch 22 situation.. if I could afford it easier it wouldn't be the place that it is..and that I love. Make sense?

Easter the island gets busy with alot of people from the mainland so you might want to avoid that weekend trying to find a room.

OK, now it's silly question time. When I decided to get my dive certification I flew to Jamaica and did it there. I'm thinking about Advanced open water so i can start diving w/ a dry suit in the Great Lakes (Lake Erie is 30 minutes away from home, and yes I know a dry suit is not part of the course)- the local dive shop requires it. Any chance I could complete a course while I'm in town?

You can do it SP, with Elbert or quite a few others, but I question the value of this cert done in warm water if you then intend to dive the Great Lakes. I'd do it there, and do a drysuit course for good measure.

Thanks all and good advice Peter. I spoke with a local dive shop and they suggested that their advanced course was different than a warm water course, in fact they fold dry suit diving into it as there's no diving without up here.

Looks like i'll just have to relax and watch the fishies if (looking more likely, RT from CLE $600) i make it down.
