God, I just love this pot/kettle repartee. The far fringes are so amusing. Rykat, you're just a moderate, just think of the crap you would get if you were out there on the fringe.

Jhill, check your history. The "repubes" were responsible for civil rights movements, until the dems found out they could get votes out of it. he he he.

Somehow, I don't feel demonized, so I guess I'm not a liberal.

Don't raise taxes on the middle class ( which is about, oh, 40K a year family income. Shhhh, don't let that out). Raise them on the "rich" ( that's you, friend, with all your trips to AC and elsewhere. You're freakin rich).

Each side tells about half the story, about the upside of their programs, and let's the other side point out the downsides. Balance. Just be slective about which side you believe.

Run them all out of town on a rail.

Just my $2 worth (adjusted to inflation)

And just a little food for thought here.

Instead of hearing things like, "they want to cut your services, your entitlements, your safety, your freedoms, and we need you to start kicking in your fair share". How about some truthfull statements from each side, like, "you gave us piles of money over the decades, we mismanaged it, pissed it away, used it for our own power base, and now we're broke."

Bobber, Who in the hell are you talking about here Lincoln???
Trying to compare the Republican party of Lincoln with the Republican party of today is about like comparing Rush Limbaugh with Gandhi.
Oh sorry you and Rykat probably don't know who Gandhi is since he's not a NASCAR driver or an NRA member.

I don't think they referred to it as "civil rights movement" back in Lincolns day.

Of course I know who Gandhi was. I went to public school BEFORE the libs effed it up. I don't listen to Rush (or Beck) either.

SAyyy, isn't Bing Crosby dead just like Reagan?

OK, Bing. Bad choice of words. Instead of "responsible for" it should have been "more supportive of", referring to the less supportive party, Democrats. Note that I spell this (democrat) correctly, instead of using some third grade corrupted version.

You guys are fun. laugh

I spelled Republican correctly as well; even capitalized it!
And if you were talking about the southern Democrats during reconstruction, I would agree.

And three more things; I just watched my grandaughter's PUBLIC school band/choir concert, absolutly fantastic! I am amazed at what MOST of the schools can do with what they are given. Secondly, yes, that "Bing" is dead but not this one. And finally as for being "FUN", has my wife been talking?

Bobber, you're right in a sense. Southern Democrats voted against the Civil Rights Act, but that was before they all switched parties and ran under Republican labels. Not to mention the Southern Strategy used by Nixon to gather all the white votes and suppress the black vote, which pushed them to the Democratic party.

So, how much of that was Bushs fault, and what is Barack going to do about it.

Y'know, I did a bunch of Googling on the subject and guess what? A whole bunch of contradicting articles. This indicates to me that spin is being applied to history, and not to trust any of it. What I would like to know is, how are we going to handle this BS going forward? I don't give a rats butt whose distant ancestors were abused by people long dead. What is important is NOW for us and our kids.

I don't claim to be either a repub or dem. I am a conservative versus a liberal. I don't believe in a nanny state. I do not believe in rewarding those who don't deserve it. I do believe working hard and enjoying the fruits of my labors. Sharing will be done at MY discretion. I do not believe in letting the gov control any more than is necessary, as they are wasteful, crooked and inefficient, regardless of party affiliation. I do believe in compromise, as long as it isn't the usual "we'll let you scam the public, if you'll allow us to do the same. I do not believe in legislating equality in all aspects. Some people are idiots, and should be treated as such regardless of the color of their skin or their religion, or political affiliation. Calling out these idiots is not racist, is not bigotry or homophobic. I believe my rights extend only as far as my neighbors fence. I believe the two party system is like trying to choose between the blind and the deaf. We need some quality people out there, not to rule us, but to look out for us.

I see one side saying "Boosh did it, proving all Republicans are stoopid", and the other side saying "Obama is breaking the bank and wants to control everything." Who is right? is there a happy medium? I would suggest a human sacrifice (Pelosi?) to appease the gods.

I am done with this subject. Things will be different when I am King (but not until then).
