Has anyone had any recent dealings with getting insurance for their wood house? Back when we bought home insurance a few years ago, the price was so outrageous, it has cut so much into our rental profits we barely have any by the end of the year after expenses. Anyone have any luck finding a company lately who will insure a primarily wood home, for under $2000 a year? We use Atlantic Insurance, our house is on Caye Caulker but it is not waterfront and is about 600-700 sq feet I believe.

I use RF & G insurance but the bill is double the budget you have indicated.

Insurance on wood and in the cayes is definitely expensive.
We've got an all-wood house too and all I can say is OUCH every year at renewal time.

Yes, I think RFG actually told us they weren't taking on any new wood houses. OK, well I guess I'm stuck with this price!

Insurance on wood house will be expensive anytime. It'll be keep increasing since wood houses is in a higher collision level. And yeah, as Tangles mentioned, RFG is not taking any new wood houses, I guess.

People should Know:
If you cancel your policy or are late in payments they have the right to drop you.Once you get dropped it can be very difficult to get another policy. Most wooden homes we sell we transfer the policy with the home.Having insurance in these cases protects your resale value.Keep the policy!
