This is good news. Our animals are plagued by tick fever, every worm imaginable and a host of illnesses so unless a healthy animal is actually taken care of by belonging to a responsible owner he won't stay healthy for long. The strays are out there scavenging for food and fighting with raccoons and not necessarily getting their vaccinations etc.

I agree that euthanizing healthy animals is a shame, but letting an animal struggle, get ill, starve and suffer while enjoying the "freedom" of the streets and beaches really isn't a responsible thing for us to do as a community.

Please post the cost per shot or a suggested amount of donation for folks to make that will help towards the program. A pledge system would be sustainable, say $5 per month per donor (for example) so that you can guarantee that in the future the town won't be put in the position again of having to use poison because the donation well has run dry.

Also, similar to a pledge system is a sponsorship program. Once the sicker, older dogs are euthanized and the population growth is being controlled through spay and neuter programs, I would be glad to sponsor a dog with a monthly donation.

I noticed earlier that SAGA does not have a PayPal account. It would make either of the above programs and online donations a little easier for some repeat donors and the account is free and easy to set-up.

When you sponsor a dog do you mean one that is living in the pound and/or fostered?

SAGA does have a link on their website to make online donations. I have used it.

Yay. We can try to do some chicken drops where prizes are won instead of the cash and all the cash goes to SAGA !

Anyone wanting to donate a prize it is also a good MARKETING opportunity for your business as Barrington will talk it up. Send us a note ([email protected]) if you are interested.

We will continue to ask for donations at every chicken drop as well in our donation box!

The event has a lot of tourists so any suggestions on how to hit them up for donations to the pooches of San Pedro bring them on, we are open to everything!

I am trying to train the chihuahua to walk around on a yoga ball with a cup!

Yes they have a PayPal account. I just clicked on it and donated earlier today. They need all the help they can get now. If any US based donors would like their tax id information for tax purposes please let me know. It took me quite some time to get that last year for my taxes. A suggestion would be for them to list it on their web page.

Oh and FANTASTIC idea on the Wahoo's chicken drop! I'd be happy to send something from the States as a prize!
