PS - it's probably a better idea to send a list of what is open rather than what is closed, as the closed list is pretty darn long.

Last year Blue Water Grill was open though September and I hope they stay open this season as well.

Also, I would greatly appreciate any info on dive shops and day trip operators who will be open next month.

In truth its the economy in the US and Canada that causes the slow season. The weather here can be great , except for the occasional Storm threat.IMHO planning your vacation with the consideration of a possible hurricane hit is unrealistic... that's not the common opinion but its mine.

Also September in the US/Canada is "back-to-school", fall colors, brisk but beautiful weather -- the last hurrah before the snows and dark days of winter set in.
A relatively lovely time to be in a lot of places up there, even though as Elbert notes, it can be smashingly wonderful here at the same time!

Cool to know. I think Sept is probably the only month I've not been to the island, although I knew it was "maintenance time" for many of the restaurants, tour companies, etc. thanks, folks.
