Do it! We didn't go to the mainland till our third trip to AC. It's a must now for each revisit.

I just returned from probably my best trip to Belize ever. I suggest checking out the Pine Ridge Lodge in The Mt Pine Ridge area for your inland trip. LOTS to do in the area and very cool accommodations in your price range ($59/nt summer $75/nt winter). They even have a cabana just filled with hammocks! Check out their website at www.pineridgelodge.com. I made some great inland connections this trip and can hook you up with really cool things to do (mt biking, dirt biking, rafting, herbal medicine, camping/hiking, you name it - I dound the people who do it! Definitely 3 nights or more if you can manage it.

We stayed at the Pook's Hill Jungle Lodge and loved it. It is in your price range and it is in an amazing location with comfortable Palapa Cabanas. The owners are great! The drive to it alone was so much fun. You will need to rent a 4x4 unless you arrange pick up prior. We where there for 3 nights and besides seeing some Ruins, the Macal River, taking an evening Jungle Hike we did the best ever cave tour. Actuntunichil Mucnal or also called the Cave of the Crystal Maiden featured by National Geographic. Amazing! We felt like Indiana Jones. When we arrived at Pook's we saw 2 Tucans and 2 Green Parrots in a tree with in 10 minutes. The Cabanas are built in a hilly Jungle Clearing with the most beautiful views of fog rolling over the Rainforest and Thunderstorms. You will be surrounded by Mayan Ruins that are being excavated. Just wait until you hear the noises at night. Wow!!! Can't wait to get back to the Cave Branch area and Cayo. And make sure you see the Belize Zoo on the way. It's great!

Hi Barb! Just wanted to say HI. Been wondering how everything went and sounds like you had a great trip! What an awesome site. Loved the Mt Pine Ridge area. Will be emailing soon for some info, looks like we have a group heading back. Renée
