It sure wasn't golf carts. If I adjust mine to the max it will run a top speed of 25mph. It currently maxes out at 15mph on the flat, confirmed by GPS. The only vehicles driving 45mph are trucks, taxis and Gringos with 4 wheelers.
Simon is right - Dump trucks, a grader, front loaders, ATVs, etc. There are even a number of private cars; sedans, pickup trucks, SUV's. Golf carts are maybe less than half the vehicles.
Is there even a law authorizing the radar guns use? Questions of calibration, etc.?I was stopped(not on radar and only doing about 20ish in a vehicle that will go much faster)by an officer who proceeded to tell me I was at the bridge 15 minutes ago and to reach him(about 2.5 miles)in that time I had to be speeding.I told him I had made a brief stop but regardless of that and the fact I had passed 3 other officers without issue, he would want to brush up on his math before trying to make that case...
I can't say for sure why they were stopped but I've seen maybe 6 vehicles pulled over in the last 2 weeks. Both on the road north of the bridge and down south past the bakery. I haven't seen the radar gun in use in quite some time though.
I was told that tickets can not be issued until speed limit signs are posted. For now they are giving "warnings." I' tempted to get a bunch of school kids and have a contest to see who can paint the best SPEED 15 MPH LIMIT
