Quick question. We are flying out of Dallas today and I was wondering if we can buy alcohol at the duty free to take to San Pedro? We won't have a lot of free time in Belize City before catching the puddle jumper flight. Is it advised to do so or will there be problems at immigration?

Isn't the duty free usually on the other side of security, before you board?

^Not unless it has changed in the last few weeks. There are two Duty Frees in the Baggage Collection area after Immigration but before Customs and you can buy up to six 750ml bottles. The local Airlines will want you to store it in luggage but will allow a box if the Duty Free Shop give you one. It does mean you have to go through Red Goods to Declare Customs which adds a bit of time but doesn't affect your flight to the Cayes as they are shuttles not scheduled departures.

There are also several specialist Stores for Buying Wines and Spirits on the Caye, with duty but without the hassle of Duty Free transportation.

I'm beginning to feel like I know what I'm talking about. I tell my guests NOT to bring booze down... No need... The duty free shop at the luggage carousel is the place to go. MOST bottles of Booze are 1 liter and the prices are very good...You are allowed 4 liters EACH person... A lot of drinking. Tell them that you don't have room in your luggage and they will deliver it to the puddle jumper just like duty free anywhere. Take the receipts and show it when you go through customs with "nothing to declare". No problem with my guests and no problem with me ten times.

A little known fact... Women who are overweight tend to live longer than men who mention it...

Would anyone know the phone number to the duty free store? I'm trying to find out what bourbons they stock prior to my trip.

Thanks

Not knowing what was available we did buy some in Dallas only to find it cheaper in Belize, go figure. Fairly good selection but not like some of the bigger centres.
