WHAT GUESTS WERE CATCHING:
BONEFISH (Macabi):
Big bonefish in the lagoon and on the flats this week. The bonefish have been waiting for an opportunity to feed heavily and feed they did. Each angler, experienced or a beginner, always find hungry bonefish in the lagoon. Dan, Bruce, Hans, Peter, and Dave enjoyed double-digit weeks in spite of a rough start weather-wise.
PERMIT (Palometta):
Sometimes the permit gods decide to shine on particular anglers, and this week it was Alan, Peter, and Dan, as all of them landed some nice permit and had the pleasure of experiencing the permit tug. Grand Slam crabs and Squimp are working well to entice the bite. Come and try your luck!
TARPON (Sabalo):
Some very large tarpon for this time of the year seen on the flats. The tarpon finally got a break in the weather and became very active. Anglers are getting multiple shots. Betty managed to land a fifty-pound tarpon during her stay and was the top rod for the week and out fished her husband. So, I guess that means that he will be back!
OTHER SPECIES:
Snapper, puffer, ladyfish, trigger, and box fish.
GRAND SLAM:
No Slams this week.
FLIES THAT WORKED
FOR BONEFISH -
Christmas Island Specials in orange, pearl and pink sizes 6 & 8.

Grand Slam Crab, Squimp in size 6&8, Mantis shrimp and Peterson's shrimp in size 6&8.

This Week’s Summary:
The weather has settled down and the fish are hungry. Come and join us this year for a fun-filled fishy vacation. We will leave the light on for ya!
Fish On!

The weather wasn't as good as it could have been but the company and camaraderie made up for it. Enjoying the lodge with a group can create lifelong friends, and that is what it is all about. There is nothing better than spending time with friends in beautiful places! Lots of bones landed
PERMIT (Palometta):
Permit sightings in abundance this week, and anglers are getting multiple shots. Each Permit angler can appreciate how difficult it can be landing one of these challenging fish, but Bryce and Bob figured it out and got five to the boat in a single day. Tia also got it done and landed her second Permit. Way to go Tia!
TARPON (Sabalo):
Matt, fishing with Captain on the way to his Grand Slam landed a nice juvenile Tarpon. Chuck managed to hook into two large Tarpon with one of those near one hundred pounds which broke 60lb fluorocarbon and got away. Chuck did however land a seventy pounder and that is a great fish. The week ahead looks promising and should produce great fishing days.
PERMIT (Palometta):

WHAT GUESTS WERE CATCHING:
BONEFISH (Macabi):
Great week for bonefishing as all anglers were successful. The winds remained moderate to strong during the beginning of the week but quieted down toward the end. The temperature of the water is on the rise, so some of the larger bones have moved into deeper water, but a few larger fish are still around. Lots of fish were eating well as the weather settles.
PERMIT (Palometta):
Tons of permit around this week and quite a few landed. Gary, Randy, Kim, Mark, Justin, John, Tom and Mike all caught the elusive fish this week, and Gary even turned it into a Grand Slam to end his week of fishing. Great job guys!
TARPON (Sabalo):
Captain Tomas and his angler have jumped thirteen Tarpon and landed four so far, and Vic is still fishing this week so who knows how they will end up. The week was filled with catches. Mike also jumped three and landed one. Cam, our youngest angler at fourteen years old, got his first Tarpon and Bonefish and made his first trip to El Pescador a memorable one for him and his dad.

Water Temperature:
Temp: 81 F. degrees.
Sunrise: 5:58am Sunset: 6:03 pm
Moonphase:
New moon (March 17th) .
WHAT GUESTS WERE CATCHING:
BONEFISH (Macabi):
The weather has finally settled and with it comes lots of fish on the flats. Every angler gets to feel the drug of the tug when a bonefish is on the line. If you are planning a trip, be sure to work on your casting and double haul so you can feel it too.
PERMIT (Palometta):
Kimber on her first saltwater fishing trip experienced the thrill of permit fishing landing a nice fish on her way to a grand slam and Matt, a ten-year-old boy, landed four permit while fishing with his grandfather. The lodge anglers have had a total of four grand slams in the past two weeks. There are not many places in the world a fisherman can go and have so many opportunities to cast for permit but Belize is one of them. We have some of the best fishing anywhere.
TARPON (Sabalo):
The tarpon are eating all white bunnies and toads often and the past week has proven to be an active one. Eleven tarpon were landed this week. What a difference it makes when the winds slow down, and the fishery settles. Just like you, the fish love those beautiful days!
OTHER SPECIES:
Trigger, Needlefish, Snapper (Mutton and Gray), Jacks, Ladyfish.
GRAND SLAM:
Congratulations to Kimber Lawson.

WHAT GUESTS WERE CATCHING:
BONEFISH (Macabi):
The second Bonefish Bonanza of the season was very successful, and all anglers caught tons of bonefish. The last two weeks have been very sunny, with strong winds at times. Our guides are skilled at finding fish no matter what the conditions. When the wind blows, being able to double haul will make your fishing day easier so work hard on it before you get here.
PERMIT (Palometta):
Lots of permit on the flats and eating. Mary Beth caught hers on the way to a Grand Slam. Tucker and Logan and Ashlee also landed nice fish. Logan, who is only 12 years old, landed three during his stay, two of which were on the same day. The permit bite continues to improve. Be sure to bring some crab patterns in olive and tan when you come down.
TARPON (Sabalo):
The winds have been out of the east lately which helps to fill the fishery and is great for the tarpon. Tarpon look up to feed so the higher the ceiling of water the more they like it. Bring some baitfish patterns in all white and red and black. The tarpon love these colors!

WHAT GUESTS WERE CATCHING:
BONEFISH (Macabi):
The bonefish continue to impress anglers with their strength and speed. Bonefish are the seventh fastest fish in the sea and can reach speeds of up to forty-two miles per hour. Once an angler experiences the tug of a bonefish, they will quickly realize that for its size there is nothing stronger in the sea. Come and experience it yourself - Belize is waiting!
PERMIT (Palometta):
Lots of permit have been caught and released this week as the beautiful weather continues. We have had three Grand Slams and one Super Slam in the last five days. Roger while fishing with Captain Cesar was the first angler in 2018 to achieve a Super Slam. Quite the accomplishment!
TARPON (Sabalo):
The tarpon are still favoring the white bunnies and toads. This week eight tarpon were landed. The weather has been cooperating for the tarpon bite. Wind direction is keeping plenty of water on the flats and allowing all species to feed well. The juvenile tarpon bite has also been active in the back lagoon. Interested? Let Isa or Mariano know while you're here. They can take you to the back lagoon to explore the diversity of that ecosystem.

WHAT GUESTS WERE CATCHING:
BONEFISH (Macabi):
A couple of days this week we experienced northeast winds when the fishery emptied a bit and created some tough fishing conditions. PERMIT (Palometta):
Permit, although tough this week, were still around and Chuck managed a Grand Slam during his stay. Vicky also caught a nice permit, so we think that her husband Tim will now be able to return again soon. Congratulations Tim!
TARPON (Sabalo):
The tarpon bite was on this week in spite of the adverse weather conditions at times. Twelve tarpon landed and several others jumped. The lagoon tarpon are always around so if you need the drug of the tarpon tug, let Isa or Mariano take you to their tarpon hole and experience the fun.
