BEL apologizes to customers in entire San Pedro, Ambergris Caye currently experiencing an unplanned power outage on Wednesday, April 1. Power supply to be restored by 1:00 p.m. Our teams are working to replace damaged equipment on power line in the area.

BEL has completed replacement of a damaged lightning arrestor that resulted in an unplanned power outage that affected customers in San Pedro, Ambergris Caye between 9:40 a.m. and 12:04 p.m. on Wednesday, April 1, 2020. The lightning arrestor is on a transmission line pole located on Coconut Drive. We thank customers for your patience and understanding while our teams worked expeditiously to restore power supply to the island.

Nationwide blackout caused by damaged transmission structure in Orange Walk

BEL has dispatched crews to conduct repairs to a transmission structure near San Estevan in the Orange Walk District, responsible for a countrywide power outage. Restoration of power supply to sections of the country will commence shortly.

UPDATE: Power supply restored to portions Belize, Stann Creek and Orange Walk Districts and entire Corozal and Toledo Districts. Our teams continue to work on restoring power supply to the remaining sections of these districts as well as to the Cayo District and San Pedro, Ambergris Caye.

Power outage scheduled for 8:00am to 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 30, 2020, to affect entire San Pedro, Ambergris Caye. BEL to conduct urgent repairs to hotspots on the power distribution system, replace lighting arrestors, and conduct maintenance on the transmission system and substation.

Customers in San Pedro, Ambergris Caye will benefit from a consistent quality of power supply following transmission, substation and distribution system maintenance works completed Thursday. Our teams installed new lightning arresters on the transmission system, and conducted routine maintenance of the San Pedro Substation and power lines. For the safety of our teams, these works had to be done with lines de-energized, and hence the reason for the outage. We appreciated our customers' patience during this time.

BEL crews dispatched to identify and rectify cause of an unplanned power outage, affecting customers in Boca Del Rio, Bonefish Street, Bright Waters Street, Canary Cove area, Coco Beach Area, Deer Street, Habaneros Area, Iguana Street, Indigo Street, Jewfish Street, Lagoon Street, Laguna Street, Mangrove Drive, Middle Street, Pescador Drive, San Juan Area, Sandpiper Street, Seagull Street, Seaweed Street, Spider Lily Street, Lina Point, Mata Grande, Mata Villas, Mexico Rocks Subdivision, North Ambergris, Nunez Subdivision, Playa Blanca, Punta Arena Street, San Feliz Area, Tres Cocos, and San Mateo Subdivisions on Friday, May 8, in order restore power supply as soon as possible.

Power outage 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 12 to affect customers on Seagrape Drive. BEL to install underground power lines to facilitate the connection of customer in the area.

Power supply to be restored by 4:00 p.m to customers on Pescador Drive, San Juan Area, Sandpiper Street, Seagull Street, Seaweed Street, Spider Lilly Street, Lina Point, Mata Grande, Mata Villas, Mexican Rocks Subdivision, North Ambergris, Nunez, Subdivision, Playa Blanca, Punta Areana Street, San Feliz Area, Tres Cocos and San Mateoa Subdivisions.Our teams continue to work diligently as they are currently experiencing delays with installing utility pole due to the terrain in the area.
