I am amazed by people's ungratefulness. I called the St. Matthew's office several times a day from 7am to 10 pm during this crisis and was always told consistent information and was amazed that there were people always there answering the phones. Living in Florida, I understand the way things work during a Hurricane and things do not always go as planned. I think St. Matthew's should be applauded for getting these students off the island as quickly as they could after the storm. My daughter was flown to Belize City, housed in a nice hotel, feed, and driven to the international airport (for several days) until she could get out of the country. The school did not need to do that and I thank you from the bottom of my heart.
Since I live in Florida, I always watch the weather channel. This Hurricane Keith was not even predicted to turn into a Hurricane. On Saturday morning, Keith was a tropical depression scheduled to head due North. You can imagine my surprise when I check the weather channel that evening to hear 'an unexpected change with Hurricane Keith' and to see that it was now a Category 1 Hurricane and was stalled and headed to Belize. Not a lot one can do in that situation. Trust me, you can never plan fully for these things and even when you do plan, each time the hurricane is different. Anyway, unless you're there you just never know what it's really like. I just wanted to get my two cents in.
