Two patients currently remain intubated at KHMH.

Our case fatality rate is now 1.37%.

The team at the airport also cleared 192 passengers from the two flights that arrived today, 88 of these passengers arrived with a negative PCR and the airport screening process managed to pick a positive case in the remaining ones screened. We are hereby reminding all those returning to their families, home or workplace, that it is anticipated that all will be doing self quarantine for a minimum of 10 days notwithstanding a negative result; this is the broad recommendation to minimize further exposure.

The situations that are requiring closer follow-up from the health standpoint are:

- The ongoing cases in OW
- The increasing cases in Belize City
- The situation at Kolbe in terms of extension of the number of cases
- Reviewing the reports of possible cases at the Coast Guard and a private institution in Belize City (we should have further details tomorrow).

As we move along we need to ensure that we are keeping abreast of the latest information and limit our outing in public unless it is for essential reasons. We note that proper and consistent mask wearing and physical distancing remain vital in the prevention measures we have for COVID-19.

COVID Hospitalizations Surging: System Near Being Overwhelmed

COVID-19 cases are surging in the Belize and Orange Walk Districts - and tonight the KHMH ICU is at capacity.

The Director Of Health Services has confirmed that COVID patients are using 9 beds at the KHMH; while the ICU unit only has 8 beds - so we assume the KHMH has once again activated its surge plan.

Three patients are currently on ventilators.

At the Northern Regional Hospital 9 patients now hospitalized in the Covid unit, even though some of them are pending results.

The message from all that is that the system is very near being overwhelmed.

In last night's public information posting, the Director of Health services warned, quote, "the numbers can only increase given the increasing numbers being reported daily."

COVID-19 Update from Office of Director of Health Services

The distribution is as follows:

Cayo - 2 (Belmopan and San Ignacio)

Orange Walk - 6 (2 in town, 1 Indian Church, 1 San Jose, 1 Fire Burn, 1 Guinea Grass)

Belize - 6 (4 City, 1 Crooked Tree, 1 Scotland Halfmoon)

Stann Creek - 6 (1 Dangriga, 1 Placencia, 4 from Bella Vista, Toledo but identified in Stann Creek)

Corozal - 34 (8 town, 3 Ranchito, 6 San Joaquin, 2 each in Calcutta, Concepcion, Patchakan, Caledonia; 1 each in Cristo Rey, Progresso, Paraiso, Xaibe, San Narciso, Libertad, Chunox, 1 from Bella Vista, Toldeo and 1 from Nuevo San Juan, OW)

We have 28 cases recovered with 37.3% of our cases being active.

We have one more death to report, this is in a female in her 40s who had underlying health conditions and who had just been identified as a positive case yesterday. Our case fatality rate now stands at 1.44%.

For now, KHMH has 10 patients in the COVID-19 area, 3 of them ventilated; the Northern Regional Hospital has 9 patients and the Corozal Community Hospital has 5 patients. Given the increasing numbers, the number of hospitalized patients is expected to increase.

We continue to remind all, that in order to revert this increasing trend in number of cases, we require an all of community approach with prevention measures across the board.

They are distributed as follows:

Cayo - 2 (1 in Belmopan, 1 Santa Elena)

COVID-19 UPDATE from Office of Director of Health Services

This is our data for today.

A total of 173 samples were processed today with 38 new cases identified.

They are from the following entities:

Stann Creek - 1 from Cowpen

Orange Walk - 2 (Town and August Pine Ridge)

Belize - 11 (5 City, 2 Ladyville, 2 Lord's Bank, 2 San Pedro)

Corozal - 10 (1 town, 2 San Joaquin, 2 Progresso, 2 Calcutta, 1 Cristo Rey, 2 Concepcion)

Cayo - 14 (8 Belmopan, 2 Santa Elena, 2 Belizario Camp, 2 Benque Viejo)

Eighteen persons recovered for a total of 37.6% of cases remaining active.

We continue to note the ongoing transmission happening within families which is a key factor driving the numbers up; the ongoing socialization events remain a key driving factor of cases.

We need to continue exercising prevention measures at all times.
