DEAR HONORABLE MR. MUSA,

I AM A CANADIAN CITIZEN AND A LEGAL BELIZE RESIDENT FOR 7 YEARS. I
OWN AND OPERATE CHANGES IN LATITUDES B&B IN SAN PEDRO.

I HAVE OVER $250,000 US DOLLARS INVESTED IN BELIZE AND PROVIDE JOBS AND
TOURIST INCOME THAT BENEFITS MANY.

MY B&B HAD SUSTAINED EXTENSIVE DAMAGE FROM KEITH. I LOVE MY NEW COUNTRY
AND AM RETURNING FROM MY ANNUAL VACATION TO CANADA ON SUNDAY TO REBUILD IN
HOPES OF BEING OPEN FOR BUSINESS IN A MONTH.

I SALUTE YOU ON YOUR EFFORTS IN AIDING US ISLANDERS AND ALL BELIZEANS IN
THIS DISASTER .

I IMPLORE YOU TO ENACT A SIX MONTH MORATORIUM ON THE DUTIES ON ITEMS AND
MATERIALS NEEDED TO RESTART. IT WOULD AN SEVERE INJUSTICE TO ALL OF THE
PEOPLE OF BELIZE NOT TO DO SO AS WE NEED THE FOREIGN EXCHANGE THAT THE
TOURIST DOLLARS BRING.

WITH SINCEREST DESIRE TO REBUILD AND PROSPER,

MISS LORI REED
OWNER/OPERATOR
CHANGES IN LATITUDES B&B INN
SAN PEDRO, AMBERGRIS CAYE

Where do we email him? Sounds like a very reasonable request to me.

Go to //ambergriscaye.com/economics/ministries.html

for the emails of all ministries. However, this directory does not list the NAMES of any of the ministers. When communicating with government officials it is always best to use their NAMES and be sure to spell them correctly. We all know who the prime minister is, but I wonder if everyone, even Belizean citizens, knows the names of all the different heads of ministries (many US citizens don't even know the name of their Congressperson!)

Perhaps someone will post a source that has NAMES as well as email addresses on the same page, I will keep looking.

HERE IS A LIST OF ALL MINISTRY DEPTS AND THEIR HEAD HONCHOS!

With email (for those who list email addresses), snail mail and phone/fax info. (I got this from and combination of //www.ambergriscaye.com and www.belize.gov.bz so don't blame me if any of this info is wrong....it's possible that a few ministries have switched since these pages were last updated but most of the info should be correct. Now, there's no excuse not to lobby for import duty moratorium!

HERE IT IS:

This duty nonsense can't wait for long. If GOB is serious about bringing supplies into the country quickly, emergency measures need to be taken immediately. I don't know of ANY corporate donor that would donate emergency supplies, and then pay a duty to the country to be helped. Is it possible that the PM has acted and we just don't know about it yet? Seems to me that this would have been one of the first details resolved.
