We have a clear, calm day this morning on Ambergris Caye with an East wind of 5mph and expected high of 88f. It looks like a good day for fishing!
Surely that must bean Osprey with his breakfast. I learned that they catch them with their talons across the back of the fish. Once safely airborne they release and flip the fish so that the head is pointed in the direction of flight. This makes them more aerodynamic. Amaing birds. Everyone once in a great while they drop one and have to go after it again.
We have a pair here who hatched one chick. Every morning the father catches his breakfast and brings it to the power pole on the lot next to me. For some reason he screams and screams as he kills and eats it. I am awakened unto this and from my bed get to watch him.
When he has had his fill he takes the rest to the perch out in the water where the spoiled baby demands to still be feed. We are today making a new platform to put in the sea in front of Coco Locos bar and hope the youngster finds a friend to share this new one with and leave his exhausted parents along.
