Axeman's Trip to Ambergris Caye, Belize

by: Axeman, Mark Emerson, May, 2001

Mark was kind enough to write on the Ambergris Caye Message Board an extensive review of his trip. We have reproduced it here...

Well..first I must thank All of you who held my hand prior to my trip to AC...

Rick & Cheri'...We bonded right off the Bat..as the saying goes..water seeks it's own level

You all made my decompression from being stateside MUCH easier..I was a mess when I got there, took me about 48 hours to adjust to the fact that in AC ya gotta sssllllooooowwwww down and just BE...if ya try to do otherwise your missing the point.

Ok..now to my trip....

Belize City Airport: 2pm...Tropic Air Counter Mobbed!!!went over to Maya, waited about 10 min and was on my WAY!!!! Older planes but absolutly a blast!

Arrived San Pedro 3pm to the smells of food cooking over coconut shells...sea air and the tropics..an interesting mix I remember from 20 years ago in a place called Olongapo

City, Phillipines..I knew I had come home...

Being the Consumate American..I hopped into the nearest cab for the 3/4 mile ride to Coconuts.

Karina, the sweetheart who runs the front desk, was All smiles, and got me settled in fast...threw the bags down, stripped out the the travel clothes and into shorts and a Tee..no shoes.

First stop was the outside bar to have one of the BEST Margarita's I've ever had..made with fresh lime! YUMMY!!!!!!!!! Margie makes them like a PRO!

That task completed, I was off in search of Holiday Hotel and the long awaited BBQ at Celi's next door. As I walked in the door...center stage was this rough looking Pirate dude, blown by the tropical trade winds, parrot on his shoulder looking guy with a patch over one eye, fine looking babe at his side...Fireball Cheri' and Coolhand Rick! Damn near hugged him, in fact I think I bruised his hand shaking it!

We all proceded to comsume quantities of the local magic potion called BELIKIN...ahhh..elixuir of the GODS it is...

With our thirst satisfied briefly we headed out the door 15 paces to the best BBQ I've had in years...God only knows what the use but I was in heaven.

We partied till I was exhausted, as my adventure was only begining...I had my first dive to look forward to...

Awoke at 4am AC time to Towering Thunder Clouds and a most breathtaking view...I was in awe of the pure beauty of this protected piece of the world. Only rained for about 5 min...very lightly...put an almost surreal glow to the scene. The Sun shown through like Gods fingers..will post pics...

Rode one of the provided bikes south to the lagoon, past the water plant, then into Town..Picked up an escort..one of the local dogs, who fended off anyone who came near me...almost as if he was saying " This is MY meal ticket..NOW BACK OFF!" We stopped at Rubies for coffee and a deserved treat of sweet bread and a dognut..hehe..very good.

After eating and resting my honor guard found a new host, a rather pretty blond runner..leaveing me to ponder the day to come..

I chatted with Vic, the fishing expert about how things were for him, learned alot and began to realize how truely kind and open the people are...I was instantly at ease.

1st of 13 dives

Cypress Tunnels: 110' 47min total time

Sea choppy, wind 20mph. Water Vis 40-60'

This was supposed to be a check out dive for my new equipment..but George from Coral Reef made me feel confident enough to at least try with the understanding that if problems arose I could surface...Glad I did'nt! Many snapper, parrot, and squirrelfish, The tunnel itself was about 40' long with no visable opening from mouth...tight fit in center but passable. Entrance was dark, but no light was needed. Many well recovered corals here, some slight damage due to Keith. Blew thru my tank VERY fast...was breathing like a rookie...

2nd Dive Esperanza Canyons 72' 48 min Total

Seas choppy, Reef cut 6-7'..but passable...

Sighted many snapper, 1 Black 1 Nassau Grouper,2 small lobster and 2 VERY curious 5-6' Barracuda. 2 uk divers with us got alittle distressed but George From Coral Reef Divers assured them it was ok...He is a real pro!

Ate lunch at Cannibals...Jan the owner posts here and is a real SWEETY!!!Had a blast with her on many visits..Garlic Shrimp is to die for!!!

Dinner at Elvi's..Crab Claws were wonderful and the service fast and attentive! With 2 Belikin 56BZ..Well worth it!

Day 3

Left dock 9am for LOS COCOS..Clear Skys still, Cut still 6-7' rollers...kinda fun tho..80' max 42 min 40-60' vis.

Wonderful coral, spotted a juve Spotted Drum..about 2 inches...very first time I've seen one...Many parrot, snapper, and other common reef species.

Back in for surface interval then out to DOS COCOS

60' 40min...Full tilt canyon run...Played with 2 frisky Loggerhead turtles...felt like a cowboy!!!

Surfaced with 600psi...getting calmer...giddy too as I knew Blue Hole Dive Series was comeing the next day.

Ate meat pies from a local kid...Very TASTY...

Went into town in search of Rick and Cheri' found them once again at Holidays..at the bar...we we're READY TO ROCK!!!!

Hit Fido's to see Barefoot..All I can say is if ya Don't See Him at Fido's ya missed the Boat..he had the place rocking and fired us up!!!Now hat in itself would have been enough for most but NOOOOO...we continued our reveling to the Famous Thursday Night Jaguar Club Dance ...folks..if ya wanna PUNTA..this is one place to learn..We ran into a local Girl named Ruby...a strong island woman..of substantial size and kind nature...she and I had so much fun danceing!!! During the process a well known local, very respected I might add, and quite attractive, decided that just Ruby was not enough for me and proceded to samwich me between her hips and ruby's rear end...Well...let me put it this way...there was almost a fire from all that Friction...only thing that saved me was the 3 gallons of sweat pouring off of me!!!! I blushed like a school boy...and never stoped laughing!!!...

Not real sure what happened after that..I do know we went to Hideaway after Jaguar closed..ahhh thats right the Nipple Auction..I was in the bidding..but let another more deserveing guy win..after pushing to price up...all for a good cause too...btw..it was a cake shaped like a womans breast...and he got it STUFFED in his face...we all almost fell on the floor!!!!

Trevor..our good friend and one to party with (ladies..look out..he's a lady killer..in a good way)shared our great time as did Mona...who looked like she had a great time!

I called it a night and got ready for the Blue Hole!!!!

Awoke, early as always..talked our grounds guy into making coffee early...ate a snak...grabbed my gear and headed for my dock to await the pickup boat for my trip to the Outer Cays...

The Crew settled us in..the Captain (Horace) gave a lecture on what was to come..and we were off...the transit takes 2-3 hours to the first dive site through some of the most incredible blue waters I've seen in years...The different shades are beyond any words...ya just have to go and see for yourself! Turneffe atoll crossing was thru a section that got rather shallow and we kicked up the bottom slightly...kinda fun ...

as we exited we sighted a Tiger Shark Rakeing through a school of fish with evil purpose...glad we we're in the boat still...he tore them up...

First Dive was at Lighthouse Reef Atoll...110' 35min Vis Good..seas 2-3'

Saw a greater abundance of fish here than close to AC.includeing the ever present Barracuda..always seemed to be one hanging out under the boat!

First exciting moment was the 20lb Lobster we sighted!!! We could have eaten for days on him..but alas..he was there for us to see and others to share..to take such a being away from his/her home would have been a crime! Many Schools of Juve Parrot passed like a bright Blue wave, up and over the pristine coral, several Very large grouper and snapper...reef was in good shape for haveing sustained a direct hit from Keith...

The Best was still to come.....

EAGLE RAY WALL 78' 40min total dive time.

Water Vis good seas calmer..area was more protected...Many schools of Common reef species, snapper, parrots of several types, Damsels, squirrelfish, 1 small spotted Moray, 1 good size Green Moray, and the always present Barracuda escort.

Stopped and ate a very well made and tasty lunch made by Norma..man can she cook...I was so full I could hardly move...

****** HALF MOON CAYE WALL**************

FOLKS, IF THERE IS ANY DIVE IN THE AREA THIS IS THE ONE TO DO!!!!!!!

110' 40 MIN VIS UNLIMITED..SEAS CALM

After all were equalized and ready we followed a short canyon run to the edge of a 1000' drop off wall...I have seldom felt so close to "mother earth". The Sheer drop along the wall was overwelming...like flying into outer space..I was overcome with a sense of truly being only a small part of an immence universe...the colors were bright and vast schools of reef species(darn near every fish in the book were found here) Be sure to take your time and look closely! Bring a good bright light...you'll be able to see even more!...before we knew it...we were out of bottom time and had to head up.

I will dive this spot again, many times just to see more of it...too much to see in a short time!

Pulled into Half Moon Caye Reserve..payed they Ranger the required 10bz and set off to explore the Real Temptation Island...this small caye is a breathtaking sight with a surface wreck (a British supply ship) grounded near the light house...very spooky...Looks like a few small buildings are being put up for overnight stays...

Made our way into the Bird Reserve..100's of Goofy's, with serveral babies in their down coating ...got some great pictures..can't wait to see them!!! Another Couple and I set off to the other side with a flashlight and found a Coral Shrine someone had built..I added my own part out of repect for the thoughtful person who choose to set this part of the world aside for a work of spiritual expression.

As we made our way back to the Boat and our next meal...we stopped in the dense jungle to listen...Almost a Hitchcock like sound emananted from the leaves surrounding us along the path...the Hermit Crabs had decided to choose this moment to begin their march to forage..we counted thousands..so many we had a hard time walking on the path for fear we might crush one....very errie!!!

Ate another WONDERFUL meal on board..talked with the crew...and other divers about the Wicked day we had , then prepared for our night under the stars...

I picked the upper back deck chair to sleep in...putting the provided mattress on top of it...some went to the island ..some in the bunk beds in the cabin. The Stars were brighter than I have seen since my Navy days...with shooting stars aplenty! A single cloud dropped a mist on us..cooling our sunburned bodies...if ya sleep on the top deck BE sure to get 2 blankets....I slept lightly inticipating the GREAT BLUE HOLE the next day...

Awoke this morning to the calling of the island birds for their mates...most were rideing the thermals, in a graceful circle..they too were in search of their higher power..

Cast the lines off and said farewell to Half Moon Caye, and the fond memories of this peaceful quiet isle will remain....

The trip to the Dive sight was short and before I even knew it we were suiting up, checking lights, weights, tank pressure...the works...as we knew ..the Abyss awaited us.

Once moored, our Dive Master, Clive and Horace, the captain went through the predive safety brief, this dive we would have 2 DM's..one lead DM, one trailing...All were told of the risk of a deep dive, and the presence of sharks, adding to the excitement for me! I was electrified...every hair stood on end...my senses were as sharp as a teenager....

Splash...we all rolled off like lemmings into the sea...dropped to the sandy white shelf that surrounds the cold dark abyss..with all prepared and ready for decent we headed for the edge of cliff..and the deep unknown drop to max depth and the cut back shelf at 130' which has both Stalagtites and Stalagmites...as we approached the edge I felt the adreneline rush that I always feel when faceing the unknown...

The white sand beneath me faded into a black forbodeing midnight blue expanse, we had begun the mad headlong dash to our target depth...I stayed right behind Clive as planned, we talked before and I let him know my target depth was as deep as he went...

I cleared my ears continuously as the pressure first double, then tripled...

Clive finally flared out at 157' as did I..with the others stopping at 130'...we made our way over to the cut back shelf to see the shadowy, dimmed rock formations...

I waited the denizens of the deep...shy as they are..I took a few deep breaths and felt the tell tale signs of nitrogen narcosis..like multiple rapid shots 151 rum...I stuck to Clive like a puppy...heard him tap a warning alert on his tank..His hand signing the much awaited SHARK gesture..they had come to see who had intruded into their home...5 Black Tip, 2 Lemon shark..all 30' above and 40' towards the center...Now the rush really hit me...the possiblity of danger..combines with incredible depth had me as giddy as a school girl on her first encounter...

They kept their distance, and it was time to ascend...by now Clive had started up and the other DM had moved down to my side as he knew I was alittle narc'd( i had signed to him)He gestured for me to wait after looking at my gauge, I had used very little air and was very calm...as the other went up the Black Tips came in under us,then passed within 20'...again the rush hit me...I was close to the edge..the possible end of exsistance....they passed like graceful paper airplanes...curious but not adgitated...we began our slow ascent ever watchful of their position...they went off on their powerful, sleek mission...the search for food...

Seemed like forever to reach the top...but we did once again return to the edge of the wall and did a 10 min safety stop at30'..sitting on the white sands reveling in the momment!

For the record..this dive was devoid of almost all sea life except the sharks...but to miss this would be a shame..it will forever remain imprinted in my mind and heart.

As we left the abyss behind I could only imagine how lonely a place it is...such majestic beauty, left for the next traveler...

We made one final dive...The Playground...this area was devestated by the storm...completely devoid of sea life, coral 90% dead..I now understand the complete and utter destructive power of Keith..it tore at my heart to see....I surfaced with the others, completely speachless and sad.

All in all this trip was well worth the time spent in transit...allowing me to meet and chat with the other adventurers..one was a quiet man from Japan..who I spoke to in his native tongue..almost bringing tears to his lonely eyes..he spoke very little english and appeared to be missing home, and the chance to share his inner feeling with the others. I did my best with only 3 years in japan...I was not able to carry a long winded conversation with him...I think we understood each other without talking...no words could really describe our personel feelings about this series of events anyway...I am in awe of this great sea we are surrounded by.....

Ok Folks this is the last of the "Axeman goes to AC Story" series..

I hope I've brought you back to the place you love...if only for a short time..I know that if I only brought a smile to your face I've done what I set out to do...If I've forgotten anything and anyone please forgive me..you all have played a part in my adventure...weather it was answering my questions before during or after I got there!

23 April... After my exhausting trip to Blue Hole..I decided to take a day off and just hang around AC for the day...ride through the back roads...soak in the true depth of how the real people of AC live...those that provide us with all the nice things you see in town, the drinks we drink, make the beds we sleep in, clean the rooms..all that stuff...what I found was humble, proud and sometimes struggling people trying to live a day to day life...

Never in all my travels did I EVER not get a return smile or a wave back...Many who live in the back roads of San Pedro have humble homes, some as a result of Keith have little more than sheds put together from the remains of houses that were literally blown apart from 3 days of constant pounding they took.

Now I'm not trying to get on a soap box , but..if you have the time and maybe even the resourses to help, try to stop by the Lions

Club and donate...even a few dollars goes a long way for building materials, and basic support and medical needs...ok enough...

Breakfast this day was at Celi's store front window, a great guy named Shawn was waiting for his johnny cakes, the grill was still heating up..so we talked...and talked...his story was not unlike others I heard...left AC years ago for the US...got tired of LA Calif. and finally came back to the place he could not get out of his heart. (Sound Familiar?) His was a tale of gangs and rough street people...stress and being subjected to what we all go through in our lives. The calm I felt from him was almost intoxicating...I too had begun to feel it myself...after only 5 days...The simple breakfast was biscuits, ham and cheese and coffee..after paying, we made our way to the steps on the reef side to watch and enjoy the passersby...During the our stay I watched the marvel that is the true spirit of Ac...

Several people stopped to talk..one or 2 in need of a libation..without thinking Shawn gave them a few dollars to buy our favorite (belikin). He gave without judgement or contempt, disapproval..no sign of regret...only the desire to help another human being who truly was in need. This is AC...They have known disaster and loss and need to a degree many of us can not even imagine...

My favorite local pup wandered up, compelling me to also share my breakfast with his smileing eyes, ate well and drifted off to sleep at my feet.

With work soon to start Shawn bid me farewell..he was off to the Reef Bar, owned and run by Carl...at great place to stop, I found out later...Good Fish samwiches and VERY cold Beer...

I wandered for a bit...up and down the beach visiting with those I had met...the sun was just begining to warm the night chilled sand.

I realize now that I've left alot out...my memory and log keeping at this point in my stay started to wane....

At some point I ran into my Buds Rick & Cheri' and we planned our nightly cavorting...Looked like a night for Fido's, Barefoot Skinny, and the Hideaway...

With that plan worked out we went to see R&C's land in the process of being cleared.

They chose a wonderful spot north of the hand ferry..and across the road from the reef...The view, once the house goes up will no doubt be incredible! I have to say a small ping of envy hit me as we walked through...to call this spot home..ya..that would be a dream come true, for them a reality.

For the first time I felt the true heat of the jungle, for the trees blocked the everpresent trade winds...it was thick as fog, surrounding me and made breathing slightly labored. I got a glimse of what it might have been like when the first settler stepped foot here to clear the land.

Haveing done that..R&C prepared for the trip back to Dallas, a sad moment for all of us after such a short time together...We hung out at Holiday...drank a Belikin...sat with Trevor and his lovely friend Lisa...and tried not to become caught up in the emotion of seperation. We all took pictures to preserve this precious moment in time..knowing it would never be exactly the same.

The time had finally come to ride to the Airport...it was all too quick, too soon to end this communion of souls. We all rode in silence, Rick, Cheri', Mona, Wayne and I..trying to maintain our composure...As luck would have it the plane was delayed so we had an hours respite from departure...

We chose to spend our last moments together at Cafe Ole', a quaint coffee shop, along with a young local boy that R&C had kind of adopted. We all drank and made small talk till it was time...walked to the plane and bit our fellow travelers farewell, till we meet again....soon I hoped. I felt a sense of loss with their departure...

Wayne and Mona and I made our way to La Margarita for lunch, I had the Combo, they shared a mixed Fagita...The burrito's were the best ever...

The following day I was once again diveing...this time Cypress Canyon 87' 47min Total Dive Time

This was by far the roughest water we had been through so far, add 8 divers and all the gear and trouble is not far away...We had 3 new divers on this trip and I was feeling protective and very alert. Up to this point all had gone well...the tide changed, so to speak. One of the two outboards developed a miss in the channel and we barely made the dive site.

Once suited up we hit the water...I had trouble clearing my ears for a minute or two..then all was well...These canyons are very majestic, with coral heads riseing 10-20 feet in some places...

As we reached the bottom we were greeted by a completely trusting Nassau Grouper and One VERY Large HUNGRY Black Grouper..I decided to feed him some of my special fish food...unfortunately he was alittle overzealous and managed to enjoy more than just the offered food..he got the skin of my little finger...there goes that fingerprint!...hehe...no blood was drawn and we're still buddies..lesson learned here..wear gloves when feeding large hungry groupers :-) He continued to follow us the entire dive like a Lab puppy...guess I tasted pretty good...

To our suprise we encountered a Huge Loggerhead Turtle..he was slow enough to catch and I was able to hitch a short ride..much to his dismay! ( I learned after I got home that this IS VERY BAD..they can go into shock and die from fear!) I was appalled and will not soon forget this lesson!

Soon after this we sighted 2 nurse sharks in the deeper canyons below and even saw a large eagle ray..he was so graceful and aloof, not letting us close. Two more smaller turtles appeared soon after. Just as we were about to turn for the boat one of the new divers began a panic surface move...he had been leaking air constantly and his buddy had not noticed. His gauge read 500psi but had 0..George handled it like a pro...calming the boy down, holding him and making sure he was ok. We surfaced and reboarded the boat with much difficulty as it had become rougher...

there are no night dives on the overnight..for safety reasons I would think...No newly trained diver should be afraid to night dive if the following basic rules are followed:

1. ALWAYS STAY WITH THE GROUP!

2. PICK A BUDDY WHO IS COMFORTABLE IN THE WATER AND IS AWARE OF YOUR DIVE EXPER.

3. TAKE A GOOD LIGHT...

It's a wonderful world under there...many things can be seem at night that are not visable during the day...Night dives in AC are at HOL CHAN....very safe places and you will LOVE it...DO IT!!!!

You can dive anywhere for the extra expense of hireing a boat. Enjoy...

Standard diver practices state always stay near the group...I would NEVER venture off alone...and I've been diveing a pretty long time...

The trip was not over yet...we headed for the dock and once again the motor died...only this time we were too near the reef to turn out and too underpowered to abort our course...we turned with the rolling waves and into the reef. Thankfully to water was deep enough to cross but we did have one wave break over the stern...

We limped home wet but undamaged, the newer divers thought it was a blast..I found it disturbing.( For the record, the motor was replaced as soon as we got back with a newly rebuilt one, and George was not at the helm at the time..another man was.)

The next dive was a repeat for me but still fun..Tres Coco's...60' 50min

Had a very fun guy named Mike , a dive instructor from Wisconsin with us...so the dive went very well and we had a blast!

Our next dive was by far the most fish filled one..HOL CHAN...40' almost 60' Total dive time!

This reserve has BY FAR the most fish I've seen in all of my AC dives!!! Every reef fish in the book was present except the larger sharks...Was a wonderful array of colors and large schools of all kinds!!!!

If ya miss this dive you've missed alot!!!!

Only the Half Moon Caye Wall topped it for action....The current in some parts is strong so be rested up..!

Mike and I were staying at the Coconuts so in the tradition of AC I gave him the Tour of "La Isle Bonita"...

We ended up at the Traditional Wed. BBQ at Celi's...Superb as always...if ya do'nt make it there for this, be sure to try the Conch Soup..it is to DIE FOR!!!!

The next morning my planned dive was called off, so Mike and I once again hit the bikes for a tour! We found an area that showed the true impact of Keith...it was heartbreaking...my soul went out to those who survived the onslaught.

We returned humbled and quiet to our comfortable hotel....

My next trip was to the famed Shark Ray City,

even though this is a snorkel trip only I have to say it was the most fun...I've interacted with Dolphins in Cozamel, but nothing prepared me for the intense interaction with 7-8 nurse sharks and 4-5 sting rays. These animals are truely the gentle giants of the reef....even while we fed them, they never once threatened me nor did they even bump me. I found them completly at ease with me and almost impossible to disturb. Several times I took hold of the Largest of the group, turned him/her over, rubbed it's belly...with not even a minor reaction. They are completly docile and gentle as lambs. The Rays tended to rise up from the bottom and slide up my body with their silky skin hopeing for a sardine....they too were non aggressive, almost shy, completely at ease with me in the water. They love the interaction and continued to return for attention.

This is a trip you MUST not miss for any reason..if ya don't do anything else...do this and you'll have captured a moment few could put into words, nothing compares to it!

My Last Dive was to Victoria Tunnels 106' 47 min Total dive time

Ok folks...if ya like dark tunnels and the rush of being closed in uderwater..this is the one for you!!! I loved it...there is nothing like the excitement of heading into to a completely black cave and slowly working through it with lights only! The Blue Hole Rush hit me again...the adreneline pumped big time...the absolute absence of the surface adds an element of percieved danger I live for. Once again a persistant Barracuda showed up..this one was more aggressive than any other we'd seen..he would not go away..he made several close passes, both in front of and behind George and I. This was the first time I felt threatened the entire trip, this was HIS home and I was the intruder! Finally he cruised off in search of food smaller than us. Probably better tasteing too!

As often happens, we again we're visited by a huge black grouper who acted as if we might be a potential date...She followed us the entire dive, never getting more that 2-3' away at any time!

This is a spectacular dive folks combining canyons and a long tunnel, do not forget your light! The coral was in very good condition and the vistas superb!

This dive prepared me for one of the best nights in AC!

As always I returned to Coconuts and it's beautiful beach bar to have one of Margies Tasty Margaritas...Nothing else hits the spot after a great dive!

Mike and I headed to Celi's for the Thursday BBQ...I refuse to miss this...Then we were in for the time of our lives...FIDO'S and Barefoot Skinny!!!!

A guest Guitarist played with Skinny, the mood at Fido's was riotous...everyone seemed fired up that night! Skinny played some of the most incredible sets I had seen the entire trip!!!! While at the bar we were visited by two British Airbourne Rangers..who had just gotten done with 3 weeks in the Jungle..and needless to say were READY to party!!!!!They started at 11am and had quite a lead on us...Before too long shirts were being lifted and bottoms exposed, must have been some kind of paratrooper mateing ritual!!! Everyone seemed to take it in stride...this is unheard of in AC ( the removeing of ones clothes in public) but concidering what they had been through acceptable, and not offensive. No children were present thank god!

I ran into 3 stunning ladies who I met days bbefore, Sara, Grace, and the Lovely Miss Jennifer, they invited me to sit with them them and enjoy the music and even got me to dance...I'm shy at first..takes a few beers to get me wound up...and wound up we all got!!!The Punta Rebels came on and the entire place started rocking to a fevored pitch! They got each lady who was willing to come up and learn the PUNTA!!! Now this got everyone even more fired up...Everyone not either unconsious or dead was up danceing..in fact one gent was so fired up he lost his bathing suit..completely...That drew laughter and howls from Everyone!!!!

We closed Fido's down and continued to the Best Thurday night danceing spot known to man or beast...THE JAGUAR CLUB...if you miss this on Thursday..well... shame on you!..I don't think I've ever danced so much in my entire life...the crowd was out of control there..in a good way that is...As all good things must end..the club signaled it was time to close and we were off on the final leg of our riotous evening....Like lemmings we went where most overheated ,alcohol soaked adults go...to the water...sans clothes...it was time to return to our teenage years and go skinnydipping....

All I can say at this point is...thank god the PICA PICA were asleep!!!!The cool water was refreshing and woke us all up..I felt more alive than I have in years!

In closeing I want to thank all of those who shared their time with me..you have changed me in ways you will never know...to share your heart and love for a virtual stranger with no reserve, has left me brimming over with an endless supply for my fellow humans...I will never be the same....

As far as the weather, It was always sunny...a few days it looked as if it would rain, but none fell..There were NO bugs at all! The breeze blows none stop there so you hardly feel the heat...but BEWARE if you are fair skinned you will get cooked FAST!!!!

Be sure to say hello to Jan at Cannibals and stop by and see Trevor at Ramon's Resturant.

He a great guy!!! And ladies he knows this town!!!! And I hear he's quite the ladies man... Also if your gonna dive go see George at Coral Reef dock...Near the Offshore Express..he's a great diver!!!

Have fun you all..I really wish I could have stayed for a month...at least...you will too if ya take the time to talk to the local people...

Till we meet again....Mark AKA Axeman
