Press Release - December 29, 1997 - The Niños Christmas Party 1997 sponsored by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and the San Pedro Town Board was an unqualified success. The party was held on the football field between Rock's Market and the lagoon, 1,400 gifts were purchased and many of Santa's Helpers met at the town board and bagged them in plastic bags. 1,300 gifts were handed out on the 23rd of December and the others were given to children afterwards.

There were 4 separate piñatas for different age groups and Santa's Helpers and the niños had a wonderful time. There were many, many sponsors who contributed both time and money. The town board and the church could not have made it without this kind of totally unselfish help.

Santa would like to thank all of the businesses and individuals who contributed cash to the party. It is not possible to mention all of the co-sponsors by name, but to each one we say a heartfelt Thank You.

Santa collected enough "premier hugs" to last a long, long time. He wants to say thanks to all the children and their parents who were present.

To all of the people of San Pedro, the best of Season's Greetings and our hope and prayers for a prosperous New Year. God bless you all.
