Dorian Nuñez has recently returned to Belize after spending two years at a university in the U.S.A. He now holds a Bachelor's Degree in Journalism and Mass Communications from Benedictine College in Atchison, Kansas.

A graduate of San Pedro High School and St. John's College Sixth Form, Dorian spent two years in Kansas working for his degree. During his first year he won the International Student Award for his involvement in scholastic activities. This $500.00 U.S. award, along with a certificate is one of the school's prestigious awards. At the end of his first year, Dorian did his internship at the San Pedro Sun for two months. Dorian was able to participate in every aspect of the newspaper business and received full credits at school for his work at the Sun. Dorian was also very active in the Sea & Air Festival 1997 (renamed San Pedro International Costa Maya Festival). In his second year at college, Dorian received a $5,000.00 U.S. award as a scholarship and the rights to be Editor of the "Raven," the Benedictine Year Book.

Among other things, Nuñez has expressed great satisfaction in editorial work, photography, radio broadcasting and layout. He is a native San Pedrano and son of Mr. and Mrs. Angel Nuñez. Dorian Nuñez will be the newest member of the San Pedro Sun staff starting June 15th, 1998. Dorian will no doubt be an asset to the paper and to the community of San Pedro. The Sun, his parents, relatives and friends all join hearts in congratulating Dorian, the newest Belizean Raven of Benedictine College.
