 
Guatemala Night will be the opening night for the International Costa Maya Festival and it promises to be a hot night. Los Malecates is the band that will be featured on Tuesday, July 21st. The spicy rock and reggae band consists of seven members. Their unique ultra-live music makes them one of the unique bands in Guatemala. Los Malecates promises to start the festival with a bang! El Ballet Nacional de Instituto Turismo is the folkloric dance group which will also be performing on opening night. The highlight event on Guatemala Night will be the Reina de la Costa Maya Pageant which will feature five beauty queens from the representing Costa Mayas Countries. Events leading to the Reina de la Costa Maya Pageant will start on Monday, July 13th with the arrival of the contestants at Phillip Goldson International Airport. The contestants will be greeted by Miss Marisa Salazar, Pageant Coordinator, and Miss Sharon Dominguez, Pageant Chaperone. While in Belize City the contestants will have lunch at Fiesta Inn where they will be interviewed by the media. At 2:00 p.m. they will depart Belize City for San Pedro where they will be accommodated at Ramon's Village Resort, the official resort of the pageant. On Tuesday, July 14th the five beautiful ladies will practice all morning and have a photo session in the afternoon. Ramon's Village Resort will be the site for the sashing ceremony, that evening at 7:30 p.m. On Thursday, July 16th, the ladies will visit Corozal Town.
