Very. You'd have to fly to Dangriga via Municipal and catch a water taxi or find a sailboat headed down that way. Hmm, maybe George does it with Rum Punch III. Worth a shot, he should be listed in ambergriscaye.com

Honey - Stayed there a few days last year at Tobacco Caye Lodge. There are a few lodges ( each has about 3-4 cabanas)on the island with very basic accomodations which are fine in my opinion. Nothing fancy here. Wooden cottages with tin roofs with a bed and bathroom. Not much more than that.

There are two little bars and a snack stand with cookies, sodas crackers. Not much to do there except dive, fish or veg out. It was perfect for a few days. I just caution people as the accomodations are rustic and Belize is not BVI or Antigua. That's why I like it. Leaves me more money for beer or diving. Also, bring any luxuries you can't live without with you to the Caye. There are stores in San Pedro but not on the Caye.

As far as getting there the resort provided a boat at $60 bucks a head round trip from Dangriga for a trip that was an hour each way. Remember gas is expensive in Belize and outboards suck it up fast. I would recommend flying from San Pedro over to Dangriga, get a taxi to the Riverside Cafe in Dangriga and go from there by boat.

Enjoy

thanks RobertE and Simon...
I don't mind rustic..prefer it....back in the early 80's loved to go to Kailuum. No running water or electricity....just like Gillians Island.
I am really looking for that type of place and so that is way my search keeps taking me farther and father south. Thanks for your insights!

There is another way to get to TC!
Last year a couple of us took the 3 day sail/snorkling/camping adventure to Placencia from Caye Caulker with Raggamuffin along the reef.
The second nite was camped on TC. A couple from Denmark jumped ship at TC for a couple days stay.
A unique adventure if youre a snorkler for only $250us back then. I think the link is:
