I've dove with Steve at Journey's End - good dive master - fun guy. He took us to an un-named - unmarked spot that was fabulous. There is lots of good diving ‘up north.’ And sometimes I have to beg to get the town boats to go there. Tourists come and have heard about certain spots and insist on going there and I have to go where the other divers want to go. Break out – try something new!
The north has steeper walls, deeper canyons and therefore more ‘current’. This results in more and bigger sponges and sea fans. However, there are fewer fish. It depends on what you want to see.
The only Loggerhead turtle I have ever see was up here – ENORMOUS! I got about ten seconds of video of him. WOW
On another trip north we came across a pod of dolphins and they dropped me, with my video camera, in the water as the boat circled them. Four of them played with me for a half an hour. Too bad I didn’t realized I had used up my battery filming them on the surface. I only got a flash of the big guy swimming by me. NEX TIME!
