Hi all! This board has been so awesome for us.We will be living the dream again for our second time in April. My husband and I love to fish(we even brought our own rods down last year) We didnt have much luck as we only fished off the peirs. We would love to hear from anyone that has had the experience of a great person(s) to take us out fishing for the day. cheers to all

I went out with Tino and my parents and we had fish bighting literately within 2 min of throwing the lines out every time. Probably just timing and luck of where we were. We had so many fish we gave a lot away to Tino and his family as he was so wonderful to us.
Do a search though, regular fisherpeople have posted their favorites.

fishingsanpedro.com---$305.00 for 2. $15.00 for each person after that. fish the reef half day. all you can eat lobster/fish/chicken bbq shore lunch. fish or snorkle the other half of the day. cna't beat it.

WOW! That is expensive compared to what I paid for a half day and what I see advertised. I could be wrong, capt jeff is perhaps more of a better resource than myself on this one. But typically it is $160-175 for a half day for up to four people and I even though that is all you can eat the extra $ I am not sure adds up. It is fun to take what you catch to a BBQ or restraunt and to eat that.

Renski: Do a search on this board and you'll find lots of opinions on guides. I've never done the food thing-it's fishing, not picnicing, but I fully understand an "occaisional" fisherman wanting to do the beach BBQ experience. $150 or so is a more average price for a day on the reef sans the food. Swing by Ruby's and take along any of their pretty incredible food stuffs.
Flyfishing my way through mid-life crisis.

I think, if I'm reading correctly (and the pricing schedule on Steve's website bears it out) the $305 is a FULL day, not half for 2 ppl, and includes the BBQ - which is what flyfisher was trying to explain.

I didn't go to the website cause he wrote "half day reef fishing" so great to point out. Then if it is full day, that is not so bad then. Thanks!

Renski,
My husband and I and two friends went in April of last year. It was great!! We used a local man - Jose Gonzales. He was recommended by his son who is a taxi driver in San Pedro. I believe you could probably get Caye Management to give you a number for him. He is a great man. He caught the bait, baited our hooks, took the fish off the line and cleaned them at the end of the day. He is an older man around 70 I believe but you would never know it by the way he acts. Kim
