i felt so bad, i had to tell someone. debbie called me tonite, frantic. houston is flooded, and she could not get a flight out today. they are hoping to get into san pedro sunday afternoon, weather permitting.

in other words, debbie spent her birthday crying, and will most likely be quite late for her own big party. i hate when things like this happen.

just had to get it off my chest to folks who might care. munichchick was to be on the same flight, so i wonder...got my fingers crossed for all of them.

I had a similar situation happen to me back in May. My flight was cancelled to Dallas. I got creative and flew to Miami on a redeye and arrived by 1:30pm on Sunday. BCs will still be going strong. It was upsetting but after about an hour in AC (and a few rum punches) I was over it. I wish Jane and Munichchick a great vacation - you better Belize they'll have a great time!

As soon as I saw the flooding etc, I figured the airport would be shut down... and knew Debbie wouldn't be going anywhere. This is the worst I have ever seen the weather. Houston, as beautiful as it is... is a real mess right now. Aside from the trip I hope her house is ok...

Last night I contacted some friends of mine and they told me the horrid weather they were experiencing. I asked about the airport and found it to be closed. I don't know Debbie, but thru reading this board I feel terrible for her as well. She was the reason I made the contact with friends. We are always concerned about the dang snow when we fly out......never thought of the rain till this stupid storm arrived. Hope she makes a good trip report out of this horrible day away from the tropical plans she had.(plus her vaca time too)
Jane, thanks...I truly do feel bad for her too. A lot of board work went into this planning as well. She will come home with a smile on her face.

Bummerrrr! Saw this coming too. I live about 30 miles NW of Bay City. Don't think they got the kind of rain they did in the North and East side of town though. Hope she gets out today!Anyway after a few Belikins she will be ok.

yep, deb can't reroute, she lives there. charlene of bc's emailed me back this morning. she is such a doll. they will make sure things work out, even if they throw another party tomorrow! said she met a few board members already.

OMG......what a downer. This is terrible, but I am sure Debbie will get to Ambergris a little late, but will make up the time quickly. Crossing fingers for a good flight out today Sunday. Belize IT Debbie,

Barefoot Skinny was his usual talented self....along with Keith on harmonica and Dallas Dave's son Chris on bass guitar...Oh yea...and that cute drummer that takes his shirt off to display some gorgeous tatoos!
His name escapes me at the moment....LOL

Debbie & Mark arrived about 4:30 and proceeded to have fun. Andi (munichchick) and hubby Dean were present as well as ElleD who posts occaisionally (I'm told).

Good people....good music...and tons of fun!

Of course I had been babysitting a seat at the bar since 1:30 pm....and after about 10 beers....LOL....well....what can I say?
It was ALL good!
One of the best days I've had at the Palapa!
