Otteralum, anyone that knows me, knows that I rarely name names... however, in your case I'll make an exception... you are not among the ones I am speaking about. I think they know who they are... or should be intelligent enough to know. eek

It's not that I am against such conversation as I enjoy it myself... however, there is a time and place for everything... this is not the place.

Denny, why not. Could educate some of us.
In a way, it concerns those who own land in AC, because of new found Oil.
Also, it could impact Belize, being in Central America, close to Cuba, and what could happen to Belize, politically.
Clover, none of want to grow up, so have fun.
Your comments are an education in itself.
Go for it.

Well Otter... I guess for one thing this entire conversation may be suited for the other sections of the board, namely: "About Other Parts of Belize" or "Living in Belize".

When this section was created by Marty I honestly don't think he had political discussions in mind.

...and SIN...
"Always be willing to look at both sides of the argument. Understanding the other side is the best way to stengthen your own."

trust me... as a retired Judge I know the quotation... but I am more interested in the part of your retort:

"If you don't like the thread........then..."

Why not educate me here... then what? eek

Denny,

No disrespect intended. I do appreciate your viewpoint and past professional career.

But, this is General Chat, no? Educated or not, discussions involving issues in and around our region may prove interesting. I kinda' enjoyed discussing it, even if others don't share my veiwpoint.

As to the later statement, I was trying to convey idea of this forum being like a buffet - take what you want and leave what you don't want (or leave the thread if not impressed or interested).

Cool runnin's mon.

After very little thought I think y'all may be right here. Those interested can read and participate... those not involved can not read.

I know what you're thinking... what's Denny gonna do? LOL

That's an awful sharp toungue you have today Denny......oh well......you'll get over it. I own a small business in Belize so I do have an interest in how regional politics might effect Belize.
POINT:
(1) Belize is a Latin American country
(2) The politics of the Latin American reqion will ultimately effect Belize.
(3) How that effects the natives of Belize...and ultimately the tourists that love to go there....is important.
I think that most poeple that I have met that have been to Belize love the people...there's white sand, palm trees, and blue water in lots of other places...but the people of Belize make it a special place.
They deserve the best for themselves and their families.........and if Socialism is the answer...so mote it be......frankly I encourage them......as SIN would say
Viva La Revolucion!!!!

Nationalization probably isn't the answer ( we learned this from Castro's Cuba) but somewhere in between will be the best...and again I encourage it. This Board is a perfect place to talk about this....because it needs to be said.

Now Denny............you really don't know people until you really get to know them. And as a Judge you should respect the 1st Amendment...live and let live...

clover... I DO believe in freedom of speech, etc... however, everything has a time and a place. All I am saying is that this particular conversation would serve better perhaps in a different section of the board... but it won't be the first time I was wrong and won't be the last I'm sure. eek
