Sorry about mis-spelling your name. I meant...Susangg.

Cheers!

I have to side with Susang on this one, even if you have a job as a shop keeper, med school, et al would require alot more than the salary of most shop staffs (but, wait, maybe I should close my restaurant...how much is the the salary?? :p )
aside from the obvious work permit issues. One note from a business close to the school:
St. Matt's students used to PARTY, these new school students seem mostly to STUDY.Maybe they don't have time to work/party, just an outside opinion of the scolastic activity, I don't know.

How disappointing that "topics' on this board has to take a partisan slant (i.e) "I have to side with…" (how elementary?)

Is this really a MESSAGE BOARD? comes across vigilante at times??? On a tiny island like San Pedro I wonder how much more a person would need other than a “free” apartment plus USA salary?

I'm glad I learned a while back that …"He who knows not and knows not he knows not is…??? "

This little bit of knowledge has saved me many embarrassing moments…

Thank you all for your suggestions. I do plan to pay for medical school through both grants and students loans, which btw is putting a lot of money into the local economy. My husband would like to work to support us on the day-to-day basis. We wouln't ever expect anything "free" nor to party our way through, but thanks for the advice anyway.

Beltex,
I have no vigil, in fact I am quite non partisan, and I meant not to attack---anyone--- I was just laying down honest opinion (oxymoron?)
And agreeing that moving to (ANY) foriegn counrty requires some extra cash...
please relax. the problem with message boards is the difficulty of the written page, emoticons aside, it can be hard to get the right inflection sometimes. I welcome all comers, and wish everyone well, but I wish someone had reminded me what a pain it is to pay US credit cards each month on BZ payscales, that's all.
with love wink
Chris

BelTex: If you are going to participate in this BBS, you need to understand and appreciate the nature of unbridled, robust discussion..that's the nature of discussion groups. The only thing that's unacceptable is personal attacks on the character of another member, and I have seen nothing like that on this thread. Short of that, free speech reigns and comments on issues, including those that may seem controversial, should not be taken personally. This would be a very dull board if everybody agreed with everybody else all the time.

"FYI...as far as the boutique is concerned, there are 3 positions available. We're looking for a "Manager" and 2 assistants."

I was wondering how we should interpret this statement.

Does this mean that the manager's position is advertised for a foreigner and the assistants for locals?

Were all 3 positions advertised for Locals? I noted that only the manager's position was advertised on the web.

Is this the meaning of 'EQUAL OPPORTUNITY'? (your words.)
