So, Naz, I was just wondering . . .how much time have you spent on Roatan? Gaunaja? Utila?? What is all this crime you encountered on Roatan?

Do you have black sand or white sand in your shoes from Panama?

For the record, many of the beaches on the Pacific (Gulf of Panama) side of Panama have white or tan-colored sand, not black. For example, I was at Santa Clara, which has lovely khaki-colored beaches. There are black sand beaches near David, as well as white. Contadora, Tobago and other islands also have light colored beaches.

Lan,
Thanks for the posting. Belize is a great place but it is crazy to think that people are not looking at other places. I received a great deal of information on Panama. The area of interest Boca Del Toro (not sure of spelling) I was set to go to Costa Rica, Honduras Bay Islands and Panama. I ended up in Belize as the flights worked for me in California. I thought Honduras was more affordable and found after I visited Belize this not to be the case. The bay islands are high for lodging. I also read about the gentleman that lived in Belize for 20 plus years and moved to main land Honduras and was murdered. You do have to be careful! I never felt that way in Belize or the yucatan. People are great there but you know I am still curious about Boca. Thanks again for the posting. The posting should be more about sharing information than bring people to Belize they will come.

I guess I am comparing to Caye Caulker. San Pedro is not as reasonable for lodging. I like to stay in simple lodging. Would consider house sitting in off season for any one wanting to return to the US.

Even compared to Caye Caulker, I've got to wonder where you stayed while in the Bay Islands.
