Just a thought...has anyone ever brought their metal detector on their vacation? If so, is it an accepted item on the plane as carry on. Thanks

Government of Belize requires a permit to do any sort of archaeology searching, consequently metal detectors are not allowed unless you have a permit.

Is it possible to obtain a permit for recreational use? If so where would you apply?

Dept. of Archaeology in Belmopan is the agency that controls this equipment. Doubtful that they would consider "recreational use".

Jesse's not exactly the tourism director on AC.

But I'd have to admit that I'd be reluctant to take a metal detector on an international flight, nor would you really find much on the beaches there.

Just leave it at home and go enjoy yourself.

I was going to get a life, but this was easier.

No, I'm not into tourism.
You'd be busy finding Belikin caps if you did sneak a metal detector into Belize...pretty disappointing I think.

I can't imagine doing this for a hobby... do you ever find anything of value? I'd feel obligated to turn items in to someone... maybe it's cuz I have ADD - just don't get the fun in it.

TQ I think ADD is quite common ha ha.

You can sometimes see people on beaches in toronto with metal detectors. My friend met one who used his to collect old cannon balls (go figure)
