They usually put the boats back in the mangroves so theres mangrove surrounding on all sides. Worse case: the boat is blown up on top the mangroves but can be retrieved later. Biggest problem is boats sinking from heavy rain accumulation in the bilge.

ladyville update

1) gas station out of regular gas at 11am (gas prices down
a bit to 9.55 a gallon since sunday)
2) but food vendors selling pre-packaged r &beans as at 12
noon

3) love reporting power outage at the central station in bc
4) we still have power in ladyville

5) no bread on shelves in ladyville
6) plywood prices thru the roof up at least 50% in most
places

7) thunder & lightening from bc to corozal (and rains) and
continuing for the past 15 mins
8) new airport security checkpoint; all vehicles stopped &
questioned before entry

9) 2 red flags up everywhere

10) northern highway will be shut down at 8pm... cant reach
villages b.boom, b. landing, rancho d, lemonal, cocklaugh,
flowers benk, others...

Smartphone is still up, at least in San Pedro. one report Tried to call three people in Mango Creek and got 'fast busy.' Physically located them and they said the Smart system was out.

Hola all, I just chatted with Amanda who is in her house with emma. They said cable is out but internet on cable is still up. They are starting to hear big time thunder.

I am new to this board. My husband and friends stayed at White Sand Cove last February. We fell in love with Ambergris Caye, CC and Sand Pedro. We actually came really close to buying a home.
We are hoping and praying for this thing to pass quickly and spare all. Stay safe. We just feel so bad for all the locals, resort owners and all in the path of Dean.

I spoke to Linda Carter via her cell phone in San Pedro about 30 min. ago. She and Kathy (Beachin Kitchen) are staying on the island. Linda told me that she could not leave now even if I talked her into it.

Linda's cell phone worked perfectly but once the power is shut off she won't be able to charge it. (Which could obviously be moot if all the towers/power are offline.)She also said cable/internet has been on and off.

Linda says they've had thunder and lightning but now it is "eerie calm". She rode out Hurricane Keith and is hoping to do the same this time. She did ask for prayers though and added "I just hope my roof stays on this time!" Ya gotta love Linda!

I'll keep calling her cell phone over the next few days and post any news when I reach her.
