I asked a group that translates Latin

how does it literally translate into English.
every one I ask says something different
under the tree we prosper????

That makes sense. The original is singular because the country of Belize is the speaker, but Belizeans use "we" when speaking of the country. Similarly, "shade" is the literal meaning, but it refers to the shade cast by the trees in the jungle.
