A group of 38 of us just returned from a week on Ambergris Caye in San Pedro. Wished it had not ended so quickly. We stayed at the Mayan Princess and dove with Amigos Del Mar. If anyone out there is concerned about Hurricane Keith's affects, don't let that keep you from going. This was our second year to go and, we had a FANTASTIC time. The diving was probably better than last year!!!!! We saw an abundance of life such as Manta Rays (2), dolphins at Turnefee, and several Manatees, along with all the regular sites of diving on A/C. We even had mainland tours, manatee tours, catamaran trips, fishing trips. Their is no shortage of things to do, or people to take you to do them.
If you are concerned about being in the way, don't be. The island's tourist areas are mostly cleaned up, and what is needed now is visitors. Most restaurants and bars are back going. Several of us probably had our best meal of the trip at The Sandbox on Caye Caulker. We ate at Celi's (#1 Conch Chowder in the world..), Fido's, Duanes, Ambergris Delight, Victoria House, Lily's, Coco's(by the grocery store), Ramon's(yep, restauarant is open now), The Reef, and even had burritos from the street vendors. The Food was delightful.
Don't miss a chance to go to Ambergris Caye!!!!!!!!
We'll be back as soon as we can save more money........
