Looks like nothing has changed. Crazy is still crazy. Teabaggers are still republicants. And you still have to pay taxes, not always for that which you desire.

I'm not sure of the vast majority claim on federal spending on defense...

That pie chart has 25% of the pie unaccounted for...That's a big chunk.

Here's something that's a little more accurate. It's for 2009 so you can see where the money actually was spent, not 2010 budget that's yet to be finished.

Well, you can change the years on the site - if you change it to 2008 like your site, the numbers are fairly close. Your site says 711 B's and the one I listed shows 730 B's. Still, the percentage is no where near 60%, more like 24%.

I think the big picture is really the health, pensions and welfare amounts. That's closer to your 60% and that was before Obamacare...

That chart for 2008 has 30% unaccounted for, and a lot of that 30% is for military spending.

Its a pie chart and 30% is missing, that's a red flag.

Check this one out:
Federal Spending

It includes costs of past wars (veterans benefits, etc) and also budgets from other departments for the war on terror. Whether one thinks that constitutes military spending is up to the individual.

But whatever the numbers going into wars of choice is a huge portion of our taxes for the past 50 years. So while "the left" may spend too much on welfare, healthcare, infrastructure etc...."The right" has done the same on their wars; covert, drugs, and otherwise. (I realize this is painting with a broad brush)

What do we want to spend our money on?

Nuff Respect to all!

Federal govt should be spending 90% of our tax dollars on security not the rest of the crap like Obamas aunt, illegal immigrants from Mexico, Honduras, Guatamala(yeah Spanish speaking) and Hungarians or Chinese. Or education, social gobbledygook programs, handouts, bailouts, giveaways, grants
U.E. extensions and on and on.
Typical lefty toss out the race card cause ya got nothin' else.
AND... I dont want 1 crazy aunt living off my tax dollar - got it!

I don't think the unaccounted for amount and "remainder" are the same. I think it relates to Protection, Transportation, General Govt, other? and Interest...

My comment originated with your percentage of war expenses being 60%, which is no where close.

So, it is where we want to spend our money, hookers or whatever, I just want to choose.

Thanks for the conversation and have a great evening, Bill.

(looking forward to some fishing and beer drinking next week, by the way, where are the best bars for some live music on the weekends?)
