Hi,
I recently returned from Belize and had several friends who live there, warn me to be careful because there have been some very recent cases of typhoid on Ambergris. So, they cautioned me about eating the food off the street and fruits. Normally, I never worry about things like this, in 10 years have not gotten any shots, however, when my friends who live there caution me, I take heed.

Debbie,
See my post above.
I would also add a tetanus shot to the list of shots needed if you are running around barefoot

Ok, enough with the cat jokes and I'm sure Gingersnap has had enough of it too (especially since she's the one who experienced it first hand)!!!! I promise I will post the pictures of it as soon as I get them developed. Believe me people, it was not the bone of any creature you would have ever thought was in a taco. I loved AC, but if I ever moved there my cats would stay inside! If this is scaring anyone away from AC, don't be...just be careful of what you eat. Which actually you should be careful anywhere. Here in Louisiana they serve crazy things like crawfish, alligator and nutria rat, which is delicious to us cajuns but sounds crazy to northerners!
Peace, Susan

It's a small rodent found mainly in the south.

Farm raised with vitamins and NUTRIENTS thus the name.

The best part about them is they can raise them as pets and after 20 or 30 years, when they die, the locals get together for a Nutra Rat BBQ.

They bring Banjos, wear over-alls and shoot each other toothless smiles.

When I was at Maruba Spa, one of the menu items (they boast "wild game" as one of their choices for dinner) was Gibnut (described as a large guinea pig - but I know better). I didn't choose it, but others did, and although I didn't hear "it tastes like chicken" I think it got a thumbs up for taste! [Linked Image]

Are typhoid and hepatitis the same thing?
