Well said Bear. IMNSHO "How's that working out for ya?" will eventually come to the fore on both sides of the coin.

I find myself curious, why is it that McAfee needs to be stamped into Guatemala but his fiance doesn't need to be? Perhaps his fiance wasn't ever stamped into Belize in the first place?

Political Asylum. I always wondered how that works and who is granted it and why.

And then there's another kind of "asylum"; really starting to wonder where he actually belongs.

As an aside, just the other day was mentioning to someone my recent trip(s) to Belize. Turns out that person was Gautemalan, and said quite cheerfully, "Guatemala owns Belize!". My reply, much more subdued was "um, yes, I've heard something about that". The cheerful person did not notice that I was fuming . . .

So then John came up with a lame and totally unconvincing cover story that he changed the metadata. Which would be tricky to do on the other guy's phone without him noticing. Not that it is a huge deal that he is in Guatamala, as he is not accused of anything (yet) and has nothing to fear from arrest there really. It's just all part of the misdirection campaign to keep everyone guessing as to his location. Problem is, it's gradually becoming apparent that the ongoing misdirection (we used to call it "lying") is turning out to be bigger than the truth part, so gradually we realize everything he says is in doubt. He lies repeatedly and then says sorry and justifies it. This is why he keeps burning up the reporters, friends, lovers, expats, workers etc--they trust him at first then get disillusioned as they realize what a psychopath ** he really is. So then he turns to a stranger, who gets intrigued by his celebrity initially and his charm, and starts all over, until they catch on and ditch him too. Sam of course, is his paid escort, probably highly paid at that, so she hangs in.
The Belize police will tire of his antics and charge him with obstruction of justice for refusing to cooperate in their investigation of the neighbor's murder (or drugs and weapons) or just cut to the chase and go straight to murder. They likely would have done so already if not for all the attention he has attracted. If all of us had the option of refusing to be questioned by police by just going on the run and opening channels to declare our innocence, there would be (even) a lot more guilty people on the streets. The accusation of corruption is a red herring of course. It turns out all police forces anywhere in the world are corrupt and lawless and inept and untrustworthy to some extent, so on that basis, no one should ever have to answer to them, right? They are not going to kill him they are going to charge him with obstruction, drugs, weapons, murder, some of, or all of the above. He is so used to playing by his own rules, and he is attempting a desperate OJ type dash (with no one actually in hot pursuit other than the reporters) while he tries to figure out a way out of this. BTW, he can't go to the US embassy, they are just going to hand him over to the DEA or FBI, due to the fact the murdered neighbor is a US citizen.
**Psychopaths are controlling, manipulative, often charming. They really REALLY like to get their own way. They lie convincingly and unabashedly to "misdirect". When caught in a lie they have elaborate almost reasonable explanations or excuses, but they never drop the lie. "They're out to get me" is a catchall as it can more or less cover any "what the hell?" situation. They often fool people for a while but sooner or later people catch on. Sound familiar?

Looking forward to the Vice report to see how much of this hit the mark. Naturally we expect Vice to give us the unvarnished truth.

C'mon John, pull the other one--you simply came in on your boat, which is where you've been all along, cruising up and down the coast. Easiest thing to do, far safer than getting around on land where there could be a road block anywhere.

McAfee Turns Up In Guatemala With High Profile Lawyer

John McAfee is in Guatemala tonight - where it seems he's seeking asylum - though we aren't quite sure from what.

VICE Magazine - with which he seems to have ironed out his differences - reports that McAfee has retained highly regarded Guatemalan lawyer and former Attorney General Telsforo Guerra.

It's unclear how a Guatemalan attorney will help him iron out his legal difficulties in Belize - where Guatemalans cannot practice law - but Guerra took the job, and he and McAfee are pictured handshaking after a breakfast meeting.

Interestingly, McAfee is with his 20 year old Belizean girlfriend Sam Vanegas - who claims to be Guerra's niece. McAfee told Guerra that he entered Guatemala illegally.

VICE Magazine reports that McAfee will have a press conference in Guatemala City in the coming days. On his blog, McAfee reports that he will contact the US Embassy in Guatemala City and makes a special offer to Belizean Prime Minister Dean Barrow. He agrees to meet PM Barrow in a quote, "neutral country to discuss mutual issues." Unquote.

As for the Belizean police who want to question, him, he says he will answer any questions that they have over the phone. Both these proposals are sure to be non-starters, but we'll keep watching with interest and amusement.

Now that he is out of the country pretty much means Belize DPP better shit or get off the pot, meaning present any evidence and file charges against him and then start the International legal battle to have him returned to Belize.

If he will answer questions over the phone then why would the Police not take that opportunity when presented if they truly want to solve this case, I think we all know his answers will be he knows nothing about the case and did not do it.

Time for evidence to be presented but even then with Belize's abysmal conviction rate for murder its don't look good.

"conviction rate for murder in Belize was a whopping 1 in 10. Author of PRI Belize 2011, Professor Jimmy Gurule spoke on this, calling it "Unacceptable," he continued in saying the following, "If the public does not have confidence in the criminal justice system, if the public does not have confidence in the prosecutor's office to do justice in the criminal system, then this undermines the rule of law. It undermines democracy in any country." The American Bar Association strongly advised the Government of Belize to review the reports and consider the recommendations made to them."

I think this story is far from over but again the the attention is being reflected away from the real victim here Gregory Faul.

This is so played out. I hope no one shows up at this "press conference".
