I live on the tundra in AK., where you literally get COVERED in mosquitos. There's DEET, and then there's junk. 29% will do the trick. Stronger versions usually only mean less frequent reapplication. Keep it off plastic, including breathable raingear.
One of the most amazing products i've seen is the bugshirt.

this is the only one that really has it's act together. We'll be bringing ours, but don't expect to use them. Better safe than sorry.
Skin-so-soft is junk. A friend of mine is the Avon rep. here, she won't let people buy it for bug repellancy.

Oh, and nothing beats Benadryl gel if you do get bit by the wee beasties.

We use deet, ULTRATHON to be exact. It's a GREAT product! Also I would suggest instead of Benadryl try "Itch-A-Way" a product developed and tested deep in the rainforest of Belize. We always used Benadryl till we found this stuff, man it is GOOD!!!

I've been making my own "bug" clothing the past few years, and without risking the funny looks. I soak my regular clothes in Permethrin and hang it dry. Lasts for a few weeks and around three washes. It doesn't repel them - it kills them. You can get solutions of this stuff from REI outfitters made specifically for this purpose.

Dryer Sheets repel mosquitoes. Tie a dryer sheet through a belt loop when outdoors during mosquito season.
We have not had any mosquitoes lately but I will try it when we do.
Give it a try and post here if it works.
