Katie what is a warden for the U.S, Embassy? I am not picking on you but my Uncle has been stationed in Belmopan at the U.S Embassy as security for years, he is in Belgium now so cant ask him. Serious gal, nothing more here than just being curious.

Nevermind, I googled it..You are involved with NEMO go to all their meetings,Help with evacuation and you are available for any U.S. Citizen to get Medical help or Police and the Belize Court System Help. You are in constant contact with the U.S Department of Health regarding Tick Fever, Dange, and other diseases. You are a person anyone from the U.S. can contact at any time and get help with unfortunate situations while in Belize..Please post your phone number..I will pass it on to all hotels here as I do not know of any other warden and we have shit happening all the time. Thanks, Your Job is overkill on the volunteering thing.Great Job...
OJ should have been a warden..he did all that and more...

Second that emotion. He did all that and more. Out of his pocket sometimes even though he is often broke.

There are a number of US Wardens, Canadian and British too dotted around the country. They are all volunteers and they do what they can to help their fellow countrymen navigate difficult situations whilst being in Belize.

A warden only works with local authorities. Local police, NEMO, etc always trump wardens and should be the first alerted regarding a situation. A warden assists where they can and acts as a go between with the embassy and assists local authorities when needed and invited to participate by same. Always call police and then your warden. We mostly handle deaths, arrests, illness and evacuation prior to hurricane. You can always call your embassy direct and do not require a warden.

Calling the US Embassy in emergency is worthless, Guess wardens are not able to have the clout...in a real emergency you need someone on Island or near bye to get the ball rolling, a phone call to Belmopan is useless. They only answer phones from 8 to 5 pm and then the phones are usually busy. You need Helicopters at 3 am. You need to be connected to the Military. I had a busy week but after the weekend will call your guy, as I am curious how San Pedro handles emergencies? At least you have doctors and clinics. You guys in San Pedro live a whole different life, I would hope your guy would be as good as OJ and have a boat and be willing to rescue and help, My God we dont even have a difibulater here,

In emergencies most folks get OJ and Val right away. They know what to do and we trust them.
They have the highest title awarded on Caye Caulker.
