My BUPA rep has gone above and beyond to help with creating a policy that covers my needs including my budget. Definitely worth checking into this.

I'll second the emotion - contact Judy about BUPA. I spent weeks researching various health policies. Some policies are much less money BUT the coverage is far from adequate. Example IMG have policies that are $1,500 - $2,000 but they don't provide coverage if you're injured scuba diving below 50 ft., if you get hurt windsurfing, kiteboarding any organized sport (what??)and many other exemptions. If you fall getting out of bed you're likely okay for coverage but hopefully there's not a pre-existing condition..

I initially started looking at BUPA but thought it was too much $$. Then I spent time researching various other policies - even tried adding additional coverage via side policy for sports but still there was only coverage for up to $25,000 (max). I came back to BUPA because it appears to provide real coverage for all of life's adventures and misadventures. BTW - BUPA is less expensive if you don't need coverage in the US and/or Canada or want to be rushed to US or Canada in the event of an emergency.

My current experience is that doctor visits locally in San Pedro ranges from $20 to $40 (depending on doc) and basic issues are easily resolved. BUPA would be more for if something more complex occurs. BTW - BUPA will request medical records with your application and be prepared to answer questions and possibly pay more for pre-existing conditions. Hope this help.

I have a critical care policy with BUPA - it is for extreme medical emergency situations only. So if I have a cold, or need my annual physical or my son falls out of a tree and breaks his arm, I pay for these types of doctor visits. But if we need emergency, critical medical evacuation services to fly overseas BUPA coverage will kick in.

I have a lot of experience with this issue (20 plus years) and I would recommend you purchase the BUPA policy from their subsidiary in Denmark - IHI. You will benefit two ways. First the people in Denmark will respond more quickly to your needs (don't worry everyone speaks English) and second and maybe more importantly the IHI - BUPA policy is governed by the laws of Denmark which are very consumer/insured friendly. Just my two penny worth.

Katy, Judys emails keep bouncing back, do you another email address for her or someone else? Is she in the United States? Maybe you would have a phone number. Thanks. This is the email that keeps bouncing back ([email protected])
