Sand fleas & Mosquitos ?

After reading over 400 reviews on Tripadvisor there was a fairly common theme about being bitten by sand fleas and Mosquitos. Are there certain areas of the island where these insects are more more prevalent? Any month when they are worse?

It seems like the north side of the island had more complaints?

Time of year is the issue, not location per se.

No issues now at all. During rainy season we have mosquitoes. If you are on the beach with a nice breeze there usually are no problems regardless.

Sand fleas are only a problem late in the year here. Unfortunately they are a problem year round in Placencia.

There are things you can do to keep from being bothered by insects and with a little research you will find all kinds of advise here. You have plenty of time to get educated and prepared. In all my travels I have never found anyplace that didn't have something.
