The National Song Competition has completed the primary phase of the competition, all entries submitted have been reviewed by a panel of judges and the Semi-finalists have been chosen. This year's competition will feature 5 Junior entries, 7 Carnival Song Seniors and 7 Belize Song Senior Finalists. The Finalists will now move on to the second phase where they are required to perform their song accompanied by a live band, in front of the judges and a live audience, at the Corozal Civic Center on August the 10th starting at 8:00PM.

These finalists, the songs and the lyrics to their songs are ready for you to see and hear on the newly redesigned www.mynationalsong.bz website. The online voting for the People's Choice will commence at 8:00 PM tonight Monday, July 29th and remain open until Saturday, August 10th at 6:00 PM. This will allow the contestants more than enough time to appeal to their fans, as well as allow for persons who do not know the participants to listen to the various entries and vote for their favourites. The online voting is important as each person can vote for any artist once, however they can vote for more than one artist in the competition. The votes are then tallied and the results decide the winner of the People's Choice Award. The artist with the most online votes will be declared the winner of the People's Choice Award and receives a $500.00 prize.

Belize Song Competition Winners

This weekend ended with a bang in the north as Belizean artists performed their songs live in Corozal for the National Song Competition's final round. The People's Choice Award went to both Dennis Requena and Jarrett Cornejo, they were picked by the audience through online voting. For the Belize Song Junior category, Amiri Gentle won second and Huston Alvarez won first and for Carnival Junior Zaena Myers won second and Amiri won first place. Under the Senior Carnival category Jarrett Cornejo won first and Leslie Jenkins won second place. Lastly for the Senior Belize song category first went to Cecil Cocono Bwai Jenkins and Lady Raqs, and second prize went to Egbert Gill. The Competition was a heated one and everyone was on their toes to see who won.

First prize winners for Senior category each received $10,000 and second received $3,000. For Junior Category first received $3,000 and second received $1,000.

On August 10, 2019, the Belize National Song Comeptition was held at Corozal Civic Center. It commence at 8pm where the chairs where filled with people. And, since it was the first time being held in Corozal. buses from across Belize came to Corozal just to witness this famous event. Due to lateness, I could not video the first performance. But, Here is a highlight from Juniors to Senoirs during the event. Congratulations to Jarett Cornejo from Corozal, he Won Senior in the Category.

This year's winning contestants in the Junior's Carnival Category are Mr. Amiri "Prince" Gentle from Toledo won first place with his song "The Patriots". Zeana "ZAE!" Myers of Corozal placed second with her submission "Celebrate With Mih".
This year's Junior Belize Song Grand Prize winner with his song "My Home" is Huston "Punta Youth" Alvarez. The runner-up in this segment of the competition is Amiri "Prince" Gentle with his song entry of "The Jewel Belize". Jahlyn "Jahlyn G" Gardiner of Belize City won the consolation prize for her song "Let's Shout out Belize".

There were seven contestants vying for the prizes, trophies, and the recognition of being winners in the Senior Carnival and also seven competing in the Senior Belize Song Categories. Of these talented competitors, the winners in the Senior Carnival Category are:

The Belize Song highlighted an original song reflecting a strong Belizean identity, flavor, and rhythm and should inspire a sense of national pride and unity. The song should evoke a blessing or celebrate the history, traditions, and diversity of the Belizean Culture. The winners in the Belize Song Junior Category for 2019 are:
