How would one go about distinguishing the best fry jack or johnny cake? I would think this is a staple and the recipe would be very similar throughout the locale, no?

Not all fry jacks are considered equal. Some are fluffier, some are more dense, all are delicious! I'm planning on having fry jacks EVERY day for the whole week I'm there. Yum! 15 days and counting!

Happy travels, and bon apetite Turnbun1971. Pedro1, are you a citizen of Belize? If so, where would you point someone for the best Johnny cakes, or hamburgers for that matter.

Macpedros -I have just had brunch at the Stained Glass Pub and my two brucheon partners were very pleased with their burgers.Fido's food has improved immeasurably and their hambugers are considered by many to be top notch.
My honourable assistant(the current Miss San Pedro) has said the best of all johnny cakes is at Antojitos which is just 100 yds. north of Banyan Bay on the left hand side.
I have not got my passport yet-so I am still a resident.

Turnbun!!!!! I absolutely love the picture on your board name identity!!! So cute..... What an angel. I know you are so proud to be that little one's Mommy. It's a job of distinction!! Enjoy...
Oh!! and about the Johnny cakes. They ARE different... The one's I've eaten in Belize are nothing like the one's my Grand Mother from the Carribbean island of St. Maarten made for me as a child.... I wouldn't be a good judge. They were all tasty, just different.

antijitos and rubys make good ones, but the ones Daniel Nunez' family (his mom or sister, can't remember) make em for the Tanisha Tours trips that are the BEST!!!!

IMHO
