Hi Folks smile
I will be on Ambergris Caye around the end of September early October.

I was wondering if there is anywhere to go where they let you plug in your own lap top.

I have an Internet business and want to be able to access a few specific programs I use.
Thanks in advance.
Peter.

There are two fun internet cafes on the island - in town Coconet's or south of town Island Internet -both places allow you to hook up to the satellite connection - also both serve booze

Thanks Pedro that sounds just great.
I am thinking of moving my part of the business there later in the year. The good thing about an Internet business is that you can do it from any part of the world smile

How reliable is the connection and Could you recommend an ISP?

I've visited with folks around the country regarding their internet access choices, and Starband seems to be by far the preferred way to do it in Belize right now. Better, I'm told, than DirecPC. It's a lot more expensive and not as fast as the usual broadband access in the U.S., but it's the best you can do in Belize.

Hi Lan.
Thanks for the input.
Can you give me set up fees and monthly charges?
Perhaps recommend a set up company.

Ken in San Pedro sells and installs Starband, 226-2310 or 601-6146. I think he is currently in the US picking up more systems to install and will return in September. His assistants can probably tell you his schedule or how to reach him in the US. The complete hardware, software, installation package was around $2,000US with normal Starband fee of $50-65US per month; I don't know current pricing structure.
